How did The New Testament come to be put together?

How was The New Testament compiled? Who put it together and what method did they use? Please use only Scripture to back up your argument. I am bringing up this topic because I have been accused on this Forum of being "misled" and "misinformed" and "brain washed" by The Catholic Church and I wanted to give any and all the opportunity to prove that to me. Prove that what I have claimed was not true.
As Christians we are called to be able to defend our Faith...to defend what we Believe. The dark one is working very hard to deceive us. To split us away from The Flock. We need to Know Our Faith. We can not allow Sophistry to seep into Our Faith. We need to investigate everything we hear. To see if it is True.

Steve ,
Why don't you give it up! with each false and silly explanation you dig yourself a deeper and deeper hole.
You keep saying to just end, but who posted this topic? Are you like the man who hits another then jumps back and says" I was only kidding"?
I just read your answer; Wow ; what a bunch of catholic mumbo jumbo!
First of all you have taken the verse out of context. Jesus was speaking to his disciples and the crowd (see verse Matt 23:1) The verse means what it says: spiritual leaders are not to be exalted and are not to be called" father" or" teacher". The Catholic church which claims apostolic succession ; you think would (since Jesus was speaking to the disciples ) would adhere and respect this particular scripture.
Hmmmm.... wonder why they don't , perhaps they think they are above the scripture. . .oh that right, I forgot. . .They do!
As for your statement ; Catholic church doctrine does not change.
Hogwash!
1963 to 1965 Vatican 2 changed doctrine. YOU AS A PRACTICING CATHOLIC SHOULD KNOW THIS! Yes practices and disciplines were addressed such as;' which way the priest would face during the mass and the use of latin etc. . 'But you cannot say that changing its position on the authority of scripture, the inerrancy of scripture, the popes infalliblity and being "the one true church" in not a change in doctrine! ! !
Come on Steve, open your eyes!
You can follow your priest who follows the bishop who follows the cardinal who follows the pope who speaks for Jesus.

Ok Steve,
I'll let you off the hook for now. I know this must be painful for you, I was once there myself; it was a big decision to leave the catholic church after 20+ years. And I think the information about Vatican II and catholic doctrine changes may have overwhelmed you; as you seem be in disagreement with a church who changes doctrine to conform with changes in society at large instead of strictly adhering to scripture.
*Back to your original post*
This is where you and I differ :
It is your position that it was the Roman Catholic church that compiled and affirmed the New Testament
It is my position it was the early Christian Church at Rome and surrounding areas who compiled and affirmed the New Testament.
But let us say for the sake of discussion I were to agree with you ;
That God used the Roman Catholic church as a instrument to compile and approve the New Testament.
What does that prove?
Did not God use Samson to do mighty feats? Did not God place Saul and Solomon as Kings? Did Jesus pick Judas as one of the 12 disciples?Did not God use Balaam's donkey as a instrument to set Balaam on the right path?

@ alchemeds:
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Jer 51:60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
Dan 9:2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
Act 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Act 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Act 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
2Th 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
2Th 3:17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
2Th 3:18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.
Colossians 4:16 And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
1Th 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
2Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
