How should Christians handle October 31st?

Is it harmless fun?

Is it a good chance to minister to the community through a church carnival or through passing out tracts to trick-or-treaters?

Is it something we should completely boycott?

Well, I don't see how anything these people are doing would be considered "approving". If they were taking part in pagan practices, or dressing up as Satan(even though he is a biblical character:laugh:) or zombies, and dancing around...then I could see what you mean. But this is like saying that pine trees are evil because they represent some pagan thing, or that rabbits are pagan, or that giving someone a gift is pagan, or eating candy and dressing up in costumes is pagan. We'd never be able to touch, look at, or do anything if we were to avoid paganism like you're suggesting.

Hey everyone:

Can I give a comparrison of certain days which Christians and the world look to.

Easter-Really Ishtar

Christmas-Really Christ's Mass

Halloween- Really Helloween..

Believers are not called to recognize any of these days,

We have been called to Proclaim the death of Yeshua,through the communion meal.

1Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

1Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

There seems to be more concern over a day which people celebrate something most do not understand..

Yet we as believers are not concerned about the Body of Yeshua making the communion meal a monthly event..

Here is my own personal answer to Helloween and the other days.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I will proclaim the Gospel,that day and any other day as well.

Shalom and Chesed:

St.George

ps:

Pixy,I did not mean to rain on the parade.

Hey Pixy Lady

Is it harmless fun?

*** When young it was the norm. As I entered my late teens/early twentys it was an excuse to party down. As time has gone by an I have found the Lord Jesus* Praise GODI found myself pulling away more from these types of events & embracing giving out tracks & literature instead of candy.

Is it a good chance to minister to the community through a church carnival or through passing out tracts to trick-or-treaters?

*** Yes !!!and it is a form of Fellowship geared towards or Youth

Is it something we should completely boycott?

*** Freedom of Choice

Trucker George shared ~

Believers are not called to recognize any of these days,

*** I totally agree with thisthey are dates and days of the World and not dates and days of the LORDs

Also Shared ~ We have been called to Proclaim the ((( death ))) of Yeshua through the communion meal.

*** You have shared this aforan Im gona ask ya questionAs you state you are a ChristianDo you believe that Christ Jesus*/Yahshua came to FullFill the LawPay the Final Price / Atonement for Our SINSWas Crucified.Buriedand Rose the 3rd Day as He Him Self Proclaimed ???

The reason Im asking is you State WE have been called to Proclaim the Deathnot.the LIFE

I Totally disagree and Believe We are to Proclaim the Acceptable Day of the LORDthe Good Newsthe Gospelthe Salvation of the LORD Jesus* as Final Sacrifice/Atonement of All Sins and GODs Grace of Redemption unto HimOur GOD is the GOD of Eternal Lifenot Death

As far as the Communion Mealonce again Im gona share it was Passover and He Symbolicly Broke the Bread and saidTake, eat: this is my body and Do this in rememberance of Me

Mark 14:1~ After two days was the feast of the { passover, } and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

14:12~ And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the { passover, } his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the { passover? }

14:22 ~ {{{ And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. }}}

Luke 22:7 ~ Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the { Passover } must be killed.

22:19 ~ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, {{{ This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. }}}

John 6:51 ~ {{{I am the living* bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. }}}

6:58 ~ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall {{{ live }}} for ever.

Sorry Pix for the lengthy script on yer Holloween postbut I jus cant sit back and let this go by..Anywho.Yall hava Great Pumpkin of a Day on the 31st an know that Ill be eatin home done pumpkin seeds an passin out tracks.xo

@ Mark and @Thunder: be it the more mature believers or less mature that choose not to observe Halloween, we as Christians are not to Judge! i think ultimately it is a personal conviction from the Holy Spirit, we should do what God reveals to us as right! i personally will have no part in my churches "Harvest Festival" nor will i invite people to it, the church may see it as good outreach opportunity, but for me with a little bit of knowledge secondhand i feel that we as Christians should separate ourselves from the world, be that expressed in having nothing to do with the celebration, or giving out tracts and witnessing to people, i think there is no right answer, except that which comes from prayer and hearing from God!!! but i know what my choice is!!

@trucker: Amen Brother Shalom

@God's Jude: AMEN
