There are 10-20 imprecatory prayers in the Psalms, when and to whom should we prayer these prayers?

imprecatory - "uttering an imprecation"

imprecation - the "invoking of evil, a curse."

I do not know about any book burnings and really don't care, but I would like to see your heretic list.

I heard a missionary that as witnessed and bares the marks of persecution for taking the gospel to remote villages in Africa, where voodoo doctor would dunk their heads in buckets of goats urine, or cut off body parts, or hang them upside down pour hot oil over their feet and whip their burning feet with a metal cable, among other atrocities. He has seen evil face to face and he said by all means we pray the imprecatory prayers against God's enemies and the enemies of His people.

We who live in America have no clue what really goes on out side our country in places that are hostile towards the gospel. We (including me) smash our western civilized understanding in a book that was written in a different culture, under extreme circumstances and think we know the mind of God. What funny little creatures of comfort we are never really facing the enemy face to face and we sit high and proud of our misguided understanding.

Are you praying for the persecuted church? If you are not, then you don't understand what the imprecatory prayers are for and meant to be. Rub elbows with a Christian that has endured real persecution and you will have a different view on the imprecatory prayers.

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 2 Timothy 3:12-13 (Islam anyone?)

Mark it doesn't surprise me we differ in our understanding of the OT and how it applies to us through the NT. The price of freedom?

Mr. Row you keep inditing yourself by your anti word comments and so according to you we should pray theses prays upon you, the body of Christ should not ever be critical of the body of christ in a public setting ever that will never sit will with the lord. For that matter it would not go will in the church, strife is not a god thing.

As for trying to pray a curse upon one you would have to give place to Satan, curses are his business.

Before you can continue to be critical of what the Gospel is you have to learn it yo.urself

Well, whatever you say then. All I know is that we are to follow the example of Jesus, not David...and Jesus told us to pray "for", not "against", our enemies. I'll go with what Jesus says. You fire and brimstone guys can do what you want:laugh:.

Luke 18:9-14 (King James Version)

9And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

On the heretic list would be reformers like Luther/Huss/Wesley. Anybody that went against the "church" doctrine. I'm sure there are tons more, but I'll let you look'em up. Those are a couple famous ones.

Mark I would surely not put Wesley's name up there.

Well, a reformer doesn't automatically come out of deep spiritual/doctrinal error with "all truth". I believe Wesley had a reforming truth, maybe not all of it, but neither did Luther or Huss, etc.

Hello everyone:

What does Yeshua have to say about this.

Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Mat 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Will we trust Yeshua the great Shepherd to protect us and save others,or will we try doing this ourselves...

Shalom and Chesed:

St.George
