Listen to today's typical gospel presentation. You will hear sinners entreated with such phrases as "accept Jesus as personal savior"; "ask Jesus into your heart"; "invite Christ into your life"; or "make a decision for Christ" You may be accustomed to hearing those phrases that it will surprise you to learn that none of them is based on biblical terminology. They are the products of a diluted, watered down gospel. It is not the Gospel according to Jesus.
The Gospel Jesus proclaimed was a call to discipleship, a call to follow Him in submissive obedience, not just a plea to make a decision or pray a prayer.
Must a person make Christ Lord as a condition for salvation?
Scriptures never speak of anyone "making" Christ Lord except God Himself, who has made Him both Lord and Christ" Acts 2:36. He "IS" Lord over all, Rom 14:9; Phil 2:11 and the bible mandate is not to "make" Christ Lord but rather bow to His lordship. Those that reject His lordship or give mere lip service to His sovereignty are not saved, 1 Cor 12:3; Luke 6:46-49.
All who believe the Word of God will agree that Jesus is LORD. He is ever and always LORD, whether or not anyone acknowledges His lordship or surrenders to His authority.
I recently read through the OT and really noticed this time around it was always God doing the accepting of man's repentance, man's sacrifice, etc. God never asked or waited for any man to accept Him. So why do people say "accepting Jesus" is how we are saved? My bible says, repent, trust and believe.
First of all, sorry for not responding to all people's opinion (I'm on my phone, thumbing around, and find it not easy to go back and forth from one page to another). The only thing that stays in my mind is the story of how Mr.Thunder got saved. Well, for me the scenes after you said of "take me now or never" would be another version of Rome10:9, after saying that you then believed with ur heart that Jesus was Lord and once called Jesus as Lord in one of ur prayer? Correct me if im wrong =)
I am also interested in the OT and NT. Nice saying on how Paul won the city just by one letter. Anyone has any idea on this, I would enjoy the reading =)
Before the foundation of the world the Father, Son and Holy Spirit had a meeting to decide who they would send to save us. Jesus volunteered. It's in the OT.You'll find that the Messiah did not come to save us from our sins but rather to redeem us back to His Father.You'll find the more than three hundred prophesies about Jesus that only He ever fulfilled. Go ahead, find the Gospel in the OT and you'll never have to depend on Paul to defend your beliefs again.

Young man,this is a good subject seeing that many christians do not familiarize themselves with the Old Covenant.
In the book of Genesis we read:
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
We have YHWH seeking Adam after he and Eve sinned and tried to hide themselves from YHWH.
You will not get this from the Englsh translations.
YHWH says to Adam; Adam do you know where you are,Adam was lost,yet YHWH knew where he was..
The second from this chapter:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Here the word 'it' should read 'HE' for this refers to Yeshua.
This is the begining of the prophecies in Genesis about Yeshua,the cross and Satans destuction.
Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Here we have the shedding of blood via substitionary sacrifice.
Another taking the place of the condemned,thus the other one taking the judgement that the condemned deserves.
Also the covering of the nakedness of Adam and Eve,represents Yeshua covering my spiritual nakedness before YHWH,with His blood,life death and resurrection.
I could go on for sometime,yet let others bring for the Gospel that lies within the Old covenant.
Mat 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Yeshua said this before the cross,He was talking about the Old Covenant.
