Should we avoid the SDA church?

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17

The Seventh-Day Adventist denomination teaches many doctrines that are contrary to those taught by the Apostles. God's Word commands that we mark them as false teachers and separate from them.

This doesn't mean that all Sabbath keeping churches are wrong. Sabbath is still to be kept and there are churches out there that are teaching wholesome doctrine.

I hope we shed light!

I hope we opened eyes!

If it saves someone awesome!

Defending the truth is my goal!

I learned more about E.G. White and the SDA church than I ever wanted to know. It is clear to me from Mark and all the other stuff I have come across that the SDA is more than a fringe church, it is a cult like Jehovah Witness's. If they think Jesus was anyone other than God and that He has always been God, that is plan heresy. They do not understand who Jesus is rightly. I just wanted to lay out the parameters to know where I stand concerning the SDA. When the SDA say "Jesus" it is not the same Jesus that is taught from the Bible. They can call his name is Larry, Moe or Curly for all that matters but it is not the same Jesus as taught in the Bible. Mark is to arrogant to open his eyes, for me or anyone else on these boards to try and reason with him would be a waste of time. I hope he continues to study the Bible "objectively" instead of with his presuppositions that the SDA church has instilled.

I disagree with a lot of people and do not call them heretics. I am very sure you and I would not see eye to eye on a lot of theological issues but when you change the character and nature of who Jesus is, that IS heresy!

Benny, if you put the word church to a group of people does that make them a church?

@Darryl

I tried to private message you but your mailsetting does not allow it. I will not revert to this via a public thread. If interested let me know, if not no harm done.

On this thread I will just say this: It is not a matter of being right nor defending the truth. It is about not hurting someone when doing so.

Well, Darrell...according to that...then everyone who does not believe in your view of Calvinism is a heretic or at least believes heresy(which is the same as a heretic).

I'm not changing Jesus or His character. All I'm saying with the "Michael" thing is that there is a so-called "Angel of the Lord" in the bible that receives worship, refers to himself as God, whose name is "Wonderful", who is the commander of God's armies, and that has the same voice with the same power as Jesus. If it's not Jesus....then who is it? I gave you my biblical support for my belief, lets see some of your's...or at least some verses that tell us who "Michael" really is and why there are so many similarities between him and Jesus. I don't see the big deal. If it's not Jesus, then why is an angel of God claiming to be God and causing people to worship him? Is that what you believe? It would seem like that would be a bigger heresy...

Darrello, you have no right to say anything until you denounce calvin and his reformed theology. it is not the jesus of the bible either.

I agree there is an Angel of the Lord that does receive worship in the OT I do believe is God but He is not Michael the angel, it is God and God only. Now if that is a preincarnated Jesus I don't know but Michael is Michael and Jesus is God. But if you say Jesus was anything other than God then we do not have the same Jesus and you can call him Jesus but we would not be talking about the same Jesus.

And no! There is a ton of theology that other people follow that I reject and I do not think they are heretics they are just wrong or I am. But when you change who Jesus is that by plain definition is heresy. To say Jesus was anyone other than God always will fall under heretical teaching.

As far as the Calvinist thing I have never read anything John Calvin wrote never studied the man and I know very little about him. The 5 points of TULIP is all I know about Calvinism and John Calvin had nothing to do with that. I learned the doctrines of grace from many years of my own Bible study long before I knew about Calvinism. When I first learned what TULIP was I was actually a 3-2 Calvinist but after further study I stand by all 5 points. But just because you do not believe like I believe means nothing I am still learning and growing but not afraid to speak out when I see a major doctrinal error like who Jesus is and if I step on a toe defending that truth so be it. The rest are to a large part secondary issues we can disagree on and still fellowship.

PhillipJohn, if somebody says he believes in Christ it's a christian for me. The SDA members I know say to believe in Christ. Who am I to question that? I cannot see into hearts and have to take their word or believe no one.

But..to me, you have the major error, lol. I'm not changing who Christ is. And if it's "God" that was receiving worship, why was He called an angel? Are you saying God is a created being!??! j/k. Couldn't help myself.
