Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? And He says, I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. So for us who know that God loves us, it is a great comfort to also know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Amos 3:6; Isaiah 45:7;Romans 8:28 I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. (Ecclesiastes 7:14; Job 42:2)

What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? , In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Knowing He is in control of ALL THINGS, we can easily believe in all things God works for the good of those who love him. And He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future-- all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment-- to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

We will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

In these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

-In Christ

Did I say Satan was in control of everything?

Truth does not cancel out truth.

@gracegrace:

I understand you completely and child abuse is one o the things that make the problem very obvious.

But what if God was not in control? Then we would have no hope, because literally everything could get in the way of goodness.

It is a big pain to me saying this, but I believe even in child abuse, God is in control. Is He responsibe? Certainly not, after all there is the abuser who does this to the child.

But even in this moment of greatest pain God is in control, as he was during the Shoa. You can always take refuge to Him, He won't maybe save you of all pain, but He will open you a path withi pain that is walkabe. If God was not in control, evil would be in control on this world, and there would be no hope.

Why is God silent so many times? Honestly, I dont know. The question why there is pain in this world is the final mystery, but I do believe that in the end it will all make sense, once we know everything.

What would be the alternative? Say that God was not in control? Then we would be lost. If He had some control at some places, we would very much run the risk to never get to thse places. Once we are at a place that is in contrl of Satan and not God, He could be doing nothing to save us. But He can and He did. So He is in control, even if He is silent at times.

God bless you

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

There is light in this passage if you will believe it Benny

Anyway...God's will will be done. What we're arguing...I mean...discussing here is "to what degree?" If God forces complete control over everything then we see a lot of inconsistencies in the bible. If God lets everything go and "whatever happens...happens" then we see a lot of inconsistencies in the bible. We know God has a plan to offer salvation to humans, and we know that His plan was planned for from the beginning because of prophecy, and we know that the plan and the prophecies are being fulfilled even as we speak. God knows what we will do, He can see the future. He can cause a man to rise to power, He can put a slave next to pharaoh. So...God is in control, but I don't see anywhere in the bible that God has removed the free will He created us with. It's a subtle mix of both, in my opinion. God controls the time line of earths history...but I think that saying He controls our will goes too far. He only "controls" the wills that have been given to Him. Israel said "everything God says we will do" so God used them to bring Christ into the world. We submit ourselves to the will of God when we accept Him as Lord of our lives and He can use us to do His will...but I don't believe He is in control of Satan or causes people to sin. God didn't "make" Satan kill Jesus. God doesn't "make" me fall. God didn't "make" Adam and Eve eat from the tree. God didn't "make" Satan exalt himself against the Most High. Knew it would happen? Yeah. Planned for it? Yep. Influences them? yes. Causes circumstances that causes people to react the way He knows they will? Maybe. But if He does control our will then Satan is right, the bible is %90 false, and "god" is a liar and a tyrant...but He's not. He loves us and He wants us to love Him....of our own free will. Otherwise it's worthless puppet love, and God "makes" us love Him. I don't believe that.
