We know that God is truth and He cannot lie nor contradict His written word. So when we consider the things we hear and the things we read and believe, we must ask ourselves as to where does this line of thinking, this belief we have, whatever it might be, as to where is comes from. Is it of God or somewhere else and if somewhere else then from whom?
We know that Satan is the father of all lies.
John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Satan's intent is to destroy God's children, we Christians.
1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Satan wants to destroy us. So how does he accomplish this? He simply tries to get us to believe in his lies. Lies can be serious, that is believing in them, because they can potentially cause you to drift away from Christ.
1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
Doctrines of demons! This is where False teachings come from. They come from Satan, from demons.
2Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
There are a great many False Doctrines/Teachings out there in Christianity so be on guard. Study the Word with an open heart and mind and be willing to be wrong in what you believe so that God can reveal His truth to you with His written word guided by the Holy Spirit. Be wise, be discerning.
1John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Sorry, I don't believe that anything can be called really alive without the Spirit.
@Riveroflife:
Yes, more or less this is what I mean. Though I would add that the believer doesn't have the Holy Spirit in a way that he could use Him as he pleases. The Spirit blows where He wants to. So the bible (I prefer this to saying the word, for the word is also used to address Christ) can also be lifeless to a believer, if the Spirit decides to be calm. We have to wait for the Spirit to work in us, but meanwhile we can read the word, think about it, pray about it. But we will not understand before it is revealed and has become the living word (as Luther called it "viva vox"). Therefore I believe that bible passages alone won't help much in conversation without explaining how we mean it, or without revelation. If people give me a bible verse I have a broad choice of interpretation traditions, from ancient orthodox interpretation to modern biblicism by some protestant branches...
The bible is dead, if I look at it without opening my heart. I can step back and analyse it like another ancient book. But when the Spirit comes, the bible text becomes alive, it becomes the living word. But not on its own, only through the Holy Spirit which opens up scripture for me, by the grace of God, for I myself would never get any truth out of it. All is dependant on Him.
Soem while back I tried to get into this thought by using terms like static and dynamic. All that is static is dead. All that is dynamic is alive, it moves, it actually does something. The bible text without the Spirit is dead. It's letters, without a meaning. I can impose meaning to it myself, but if I am not in the Holy Spirit, there might another Spirit be working, and all other spirits are as far as I can tell, as static. God isn't static, He is full of dynamicity (would you use that word or is there a better one in English?), by that I don't say that He changes His will, but He causes us to change, He gets things in moving. I hope this doesn't make things more complicated again...
But thank you, Riveroflife, for defending me, I appreciate it very much.
GJ, you are a roit!...PLWEEEAAAS go to your room immediately!:ROFL::ROFL::yay:... hairball? LMHO...:ROFL:
But you made my point right on the nose. False teachers and false profits, I mean prophets, are those who misinterpret God's word, and the devil uses thme for his purposes.
Devil can't imput his doctrines in anyone if again, the person has the doctrine of Christ living in their hearts.
You're right PJ, and demons can't tell you nothing if you're rightly dividing the word of Trutha dn trusting in the Holy Spirit to illuminate you into God's knowledge and wisdom in His word. False teachingg is how denominations get started, everybody wants to be their own interpretor of God word, and no one cares to search out or have a teachable spirit, not do they allow the Holy Spirti to convict their own hearts with the word, before trying to give it to someone else. They themsleves are not obeying in humility what God has said...
Can't teach God's word, if the word hasn't taught you how to come into the righteousness of God...
You said: "am sorry Walter. Your post is like an open door to me!
You ask a question, answer it yourself and tell us to look for the guidance of God to find the truth as there are many false prophets...
If you state that there are so many false teachings in christianity, then mention one for starters. We then can all, according to your guidances, look for the untruth in it and come up with our ideas and discoveries.
WALTER: No....you didn't get the post. Others did but you missed it. Perhaps you were looking through the wrong door.
This thread is not about any specific False Teachings but WHERE they originate. If you do not recognize that there are many False teachings in Christianity and that such teachings originate from Satan, then I can't help you.
If you think that in the year 2010 AD, you can come with a brilhant statement that false teachings in christianity come from satan.... then I suggest you finish your highschool.
