the gospel is not preached to all people.Those who do hear it do not respond the same.We will never be convinced that our salvation comes from gods great mercy until we understand eternal election.Gods grace is shown by the fact that he does not give away salvation to everyone.Not understanding this great truth takes away from gods glory and prevents true humility.Paul maintains that the principle can only be understood if works are set on one side,and god is seen to elect those whom he has predestined.His exact words are"So too,at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.And if by grace,then it is no longer by works.if it were,grace would no longer be grace"(rom.11;5-6)

How may I know I have understood the gospel and that I am elect? First, by the Word of God having come in divine power to the soul so that my self-complacency is shattered and my self-righteousness is renounced. Second, by the Holy Spirit convicting me of my woeful, guilty, and lost condition. Third, by having had revealed to me the suitability and sufficiency of Christ to meet my desperate case and by a divinely given faith causing me to lay hold of and rest upon Him as my only hope. Fourth, by the marks of the new nature within me - a love for God; an appetite for spiritual things; a longing for holiness; a seeking after conformity to Christ. Fifth, by the resistance which the new nature makes to the old, causing me to hate sin and loathe myself for it. Sixth, by avoiding everything which is condemned by God's Word and by sincerely repenting of and humbly confessing every transgression. Failure at this point will surely bring a dark cloud over our assurance causing the Spirit to withhold His witness. Seventh, by giving all diligence to cultivate the Christian graces and using all diligence to this end. Thus the knowledge of election is cumulative.

But what if you're one of the "saved" that just think they're saved? The ones who Jesus will tell He never knew them? They cast out demons, healed the sick...all mighty miracles...but...they were lost. It's one thing to "hope" you're saved..."the blessed hope"...but to "know" you're saved? I don't believe it's possible.

Eze. 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

12Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

13When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

14Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

15If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.

16None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

17Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

18When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

19But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

20Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

scripture clearly proves that god,by his eternal and unchanging will,determined once and for all those whom he would one day admit to salvation and those whom he would consign to destruction.His decision about the elect is based on his free mercy with no reference to human deserving.

No sir, reformed theology says that is the word of God.

The word of God is still true, Whosoever will can come.
