Using Scripture only:

Can anyone show me where in Scripture it says which books were to go into The New Testament?

Also where in Scripture does it say that Scripture is "the Pillar and Foundation of Truth" (not just "useful")?

Also where in Scripture does it say that some books should be taken out of The Old Testament and no longer considered inspired ( Maccabees...etc )?

I think these questions will be a good starting point.

Steve

Hey Cattle,

I have no problem with a little jabbing. It's all in fun and never an offense. But I do hope that Steve let's me pick the color lipstick to put on that pig he is trying to sell us that the Roman Catholic Church is the only true Church ordained by Christ. LOL

Blessings!

Walter

Ok Arch, Walter, Mark, Cattleman, Leon, Thurder, Cher, Storm, PJ... I appreciate all your comments/interpretations/fact/biblical findings... I'm curious still because I have been curious over the years of all the other additional "books' that aren't present in the KJV.... i.e. "the dead sea scrolls". I'm still trying to cypher through that in my spare time.

Arch... I know you asked a "specific" question in your post, but more questions keep popping into my head. There is so much out there as far as additional "books of the bible" "left OUT" for one reason or another... and I'm still again "curious", which, btw it going to take more effort on my part, than me relying on you guys totally for all the answers.

Thanks to you all for making me exercise my brain!

Gracemae,

I have by ni means read all of the books that are out there that claim to be inspired by God, I do make it a point to at least try to find them and see for myself. So far, I have agreed with the commitees that canonized the Bible as we know it. I have gotten some useful information out of many of them, ie. Maccabees, Tobit, etc. I also felt a big difference in them from the rest of the Bible. I am sure it was the Holy Spirit telling me how much faith to put in them.

I have read many books by many denominations, and the only one that got my attention was a book on new age religion called Conversations with God. Be very careful if you read these books. Satan is supernatural and no fool. He knows if he can get you on a spiritual high, he has a better chance at deceiving you.

Like all good lies, these books were full of truths mixed in. Lots of scripture, and lots of reasonable sounding explanations. I had been warned about these books in advance and thought I was strong enough to handle it. I had to stop reading them several times and go back to my bible for a few days. I do understand how people get pulled in and deceived after reading them.

Blessings,

Leon

Yeah....have to be careful we're not pulled around by every "wind of doctrine" or however some bible guy said it...can't remember...doctrinal flatulence...
