One of my favorites is galatians 2:20.

I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in the faithfulness of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

It has always struck me that Paul said, Christ loved me and gave himself for me. We can say that and rejoice.

In line with this theme of the divine love, we have romans 5:8.

God commends his own love for us, that while we were sinners Christ died for us.

This love is all about the divine initiative. God loves sinners as sinners. Christ died for sinners as sinners. God didn't say, stop sinning and I will love you. Christ didn't say, stop sinning and I will die for you.

@OHIO,

I just want to address Daves question to me.

Dave, there are no sinners in the Scriptures, but there are SINFUL people saved by Grace thru faith.

A person does not possess forgiveness until the trust Yeshua, as He had come into time to reveal the Father, and all that He is, and has already done for man outside of time.

A person after trusting Messiah does not need to ask to be forgiven of sin, as they already have been forgiven of every sin past, present and future in Yeshua Isaiah 53.

Confessing/agreeing with GOD Almighty about sin is daily, as we need our feet washed daily,and once a person is trusting Messiah they are a SAINT, ( Holy one ). Now where in the Scriptures does GOD Almighty refer to His people as 'sinners' NOWHERE.

Quiz, I copied your post to make replying easier.

QUIZ: Dave, there are no sinners in the Scriptures, but there are SINFUL people saved by Grace thru faith.

DAVE: But logically sinful people are “sinners”. However, I agree with you to a degree.

The meaning of terminology (in this case “sinner”) usually depends on its context.

For example Paul says here (as he speaks in the present tense).

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life”. (1 Timothy 1:15-16). Yes, Paul is a saint, for sure. But when he sins, in some sense, he’s a sinner but not in the sense he’s an unsaved sinner.

QUIZ: A person does not possess forgiveness until the trust Yeshua, as He had come into time to reveal the Father, and all that He is, and has already done for man outside of time.

DAVE: I agree with most of that.

QUIZ: A person after trusting Messiah does not need to ask to be forgiven of sin, as they already have been forgiven of every sin past, present and future in Yeshua Isaiah 53.

DAVE: I agree

QUIZ:Confessing/agreeing with GOD Almighty about sin is daily, as we need our feet washed daily,and once a person is trusting Messiah they are a SAINT, ( Holy one ). Now where in the Scriptures does GOD Almighty refer to His people as 'sinners' NOWHERE.

DAVE: l mostly agree. Yes, the word “sinner”, depending how it’s used in a specific context can refer distinctively to non-believing sinners. I think it’s safe to say, I’m mostly in agreement with you.

@Ohio

Ohio, i ask to be forgiven for taking over your post, to address Dave.

Dave, are people sinners because they sin, OR do they sin because they are sinful.

Dave, what is your position before Yeshua, one of being a sinner, or saint.

What is your condition, sinner OR sinful, one is a persons condition the other their position.

I’m a saint because God transferred the righteousness of Jesus to me and in turn transferred my sin (past present and future) onto Jesus who suffered in my place on the cross. As a result, I’m a saint.

But I still have my old sin nature that keeps trying to pull me back into sin. In this sense, I’m a sinner but only in the sense and context in which Paul wrote about concerning his earthly battle against the old nature and sin.

As time goes on, my new nature is renewed daily as my old nature continues to die

@DAVE

Dave, the do you have a 'sinner' nature OR a sinful nature that you have died to in Yeshua.
