Blood, Death or Both?

I am still on the fence with John McArthur.... He had that quote I can't get out of my head...The blood doesn't save. You are saved by his death (sacrifice) ...then he says , The blood is just a euphemistic way of saying death...Well euphemistic means the same thing, just said in a different way....so does the blood save or death? I know his sacrifice takes away sins and his blood saves us from wrath. I wonder how you defend McArthur on this since to me he seems to be speaking in riddles since he said there wasn't anything magic in his blood. .

P..

Yes, good scriptures to know. I especially like this one .

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Yes, faith in his blood takes away sins! At the moment we believe, we are justified. JUST AS IF I NEVER SINNED! YAY!

Teddyhug

Your quote

Did Adam have a biological earthly father or mother? Where did Adam come from? The Bible says he was made from the dirt of the earth and that's what I'm made of, what about you? Where did you come? The rib of Adam originally?

So DNA is just another detail or quality of a human or animal, just as blood is. Key thought NOW we should be thinking..... It all comes from Yahweh! Correct?

I am grinning so big right now!

Duh!!

Thank you for responding in like fashion - very much appreciated.

Allow me to add:

Did Jesus come preaching that you have to believe his Mom is a virgin in order to be saved?

Although I could write pages on this and still be on the fence. The above question sums it up nicely. If it was as important as some make it out to be, Jesus would of definitely told us.

*p7744, yep, I see you dancing in joy! More fodder for your furnace. I'm sure you're just drool'n to twist this one!

And Btw, make sure you quote Isaiah 7:14 (but in Hebrew, hehe). To bad you're such a jerk, cause I could show you something very strange in Hebrew that would blow your socks off and supports the notion of a virgin birth! However something about pearls comes to mind.

KJVonly;

"Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"

propitiation defintion - "atonement, especially that of Yah'shua the Christ"

So it is Yah'shua is the "atonement" sacrifice for every sinner that by FAITH believe that he shed His blood (and died) for them on the pole/tree. Then after knowing that and believeing that by FAITH we then REPENT of our sins and He "declares his righteousness for the remission of sins" in us "that are past".

Note "that are past" and not future until repentance again.

"To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus."

Key words "at this time his righteousness" to that of "which believeth in Jesus."

So a believer by FAITH would need to repent when ever they sin and when they do they would be "at this time (now in or found in) his righteousness" to those "which believeth (continue) in Jesus."

Sure He died for all sins, past. present and future but our part is that we can ONLY repent of the present and future sins should we choose to sin! The Bible says TODAY is your salvation! So its today friends, repent if you find (convicted) by His set apart Spirit that you have sinned!

Its simple really. The Bible says come boldly to the throne of Grace and forgiveness and repent.

My Bible reads to me like this - Yes, faith in his sacrificial blood points out that I can choose to be a sinner and be washed after repentance! At the moment I sin I can repent and believe again, Im justified again. JUST AS IF I NEVER SINNED! YAY!

Teddyhug

A gift for you....

We ate from the "Tree of knowledge of good and evil"

Ever since then we have been preoccupied with what is good and what is evil and we approach God on those terms.

Jesus hung on a tree.

If we eat from that tree we are freed from the preoccupation of good and evil and we approach God on His terms rather than ours.

What are God's terms?

'Forget all that good and evil manure, I'll take care of that for you, you either want to be with Me or not'

- A relationship based on the nature of God and His unconditional love for us.

I agree Teddyhug...

The doctrine of justification by faith helps us maintain “pure devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Holding to justification by faith keeps us from falling for the lie that we can earn heaven. There is no ritual, no sacrament, no deed that can make us worthy of the righteousness of Christ. It is only by His grace, in response to our faith, that God has credited to us the holiness of His Son. Both Old and New Testaments say, “The just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38).

Sanctification is a process by which we become more Christ like. So are you saying Teddyhug, that Jesus has been saving you for years through repentance?

I repent as soon as I feel conviction . I have to examine myself often also. I want to stay in fellowship with Yeshua. I do prefer to use his hebrew name. I may do a thread on the translation of his name to Jesus soon . I found out that my closest hebrew equivalent to the name Shannon is Yochanan, meaning God is gracious. It is the same name John the baptist goes by.

**WE ARE MIRACULOUSLY BORN AGAIN AND **SANCTIFIED** BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD AND BY FAITH IN THE NEW COVENANT OF JESUS CHRIST**

**SANCTIFY** comes from the Geek word **HAGIAZO** which is also translated **HOLY** **HOLINESS** **MADE HOLY** **MAKES HOLY** **HOLY LIFE** **CONSECRATED** **MAKE SACRED**

John 17:17 Jesus says to His Father, "**SANCTIFY** them by the Truth; **YOUR WORD IS TRUTH**!"

Acts 20:32: I commit you to God and to the **WORD** of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are **SANCTIFIED**!

Acts 26:17,18: Jesus said I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are **SANCTIFIED BY FAITH IN ME**!"

Ephesians 2:8-10: For it is by grace you have been saved, through **FAITH** and this not of yourselves, it is the **GIFT OF GOD**--not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are **GOD's HANDIWORK**, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

**SANCTIFICATION** is only caused by the Holy Spirit through the powerful Word of God. **SANCTIFICATION** is the Holy Spirit's work of making us **HOLY**. When the Holy Spirit creates faith in us to **OBEY GOD'S WORD** with the hope of countless **ETERNAL REWARDS** he renews in us the image of God so that through His power we produce good works.

Romans 15:16: He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the Gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, **SANCTIFIED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT**!

I Corinthians 1:2: To the church of God in Corinth, to those **SANCTIFIED IN CHRIST JESUS**, and **CALLED** to be His saints!

I Corinthians 6:11: But you were washed, you were **SANCTIFIED**, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and **BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD!

2 Thessalonians 2:13: We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God **CHOSE YOU** as firstfruits to be saved through the **SANCTIFYING WORK OF THE SPIRIT** and through **BELIEF IN THE TRUTH**!

**THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS IS FAITH EXPRESSING ITSELF THROUGH ***LOVE***!!{Galatians 5:6}

**THE FATHER LOVES HIS FAITHUL SAINTS JUST AS MUCH AS HE LOVES JESUS**

John 17:23: Jesus says to His Father, "You sent Me and have **LOVED THEM** even as you **LOVED** Me!!"

**JESUS LOVES HIS FAITHFUL SAINTS **JUST AS MUCH** AS THE FATHER LOVES HIM**!!

John 15:9,10" Jesus says, "As the Father **LOVED** Me, so I have **LOVED** you!! Now remain in My **LOVE . **IF** you obey My commands, you will remain in My **LOVE**, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in His **LOVE** !"

John 14:21,23: Jesus says, "Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who **LOVES** Me! He who loves Me will be **LOVED** by My Father, and I will **LOVE** him....If anyone **LOVES** Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will **LOVE** him, and we will come to him and make Our home with him!!"

I John 3:18: Dear children, let us not **LOVE** with words or tongue but with actions and in truth!

WHAT'S **LOVE** GOT TO DO WITH IT??

I Peter 1:22: "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere **LOVE** for your brothers, **LOVE** one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again... through the living and enduring Word of God!

I Peter 4:8: **ABOVE ALL**, **LOVE** each other **DEEPLY**, because **LOVE** covers over a multitude of sins!

I Corinthians 13:2,4-8: If I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not **LOVE** I am nothing...**LOVE** is patient, **LOVE** is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. **LOVE** does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. **LOVE** never fails!!"

John 13:34: Jesus says, "A NEW command I give you: **LOVE* one another As I have **LOVED** you, so you must **LOVE** one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples." John 15:12,13: Jesus says, "My command is this: **LOVE** each other as I have **LOVED** you. Greater **LOVE** has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

I John 3:16: This how we know what **LOVE** is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers!

Ephesians 5:1,2: Be **IMITATORS OF GOD**, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of **LOVE**, just as Christ **LOVED** us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God!

Luke 6:27,28,35,36: Jesus says, "**LOVE** your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. **LOVE** your enemies, do good to them. and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your **REWARD** will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful!"

Matthew 28:19.20” Jesus commands, “Go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to *OBEY EVERYTHING* I have commanded you!” {See I John 2:3-5}

EVERYTHING would also include all the other commands in God's inspired Word from Acts to Revelation as per 2 Timothy 3:16: 4:2: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work...Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction."

If we really **LOVE** our brothers and sister in Christ we will lovingly teach them to obey all the approximately 400 commands of the NT with **LOVE** in the hope of countless eternal rewards when Jesus comes with great power with all His angels.

Revelation 22:112: Jesus says,"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!?

Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and **THEN** He will **REWARD** each person according to what he has done."

Ephesians 4:15: "Speaking the Truth in **LOVE** , we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ! From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in **LOVE** , as each part does its work."

Ephesians 3:17-19: "I pray that you, being rooted and established in **LOVE** may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the **LOVE** of Christ, and to know this **LOVE** that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God!!"

I John 4:7-12: Dear friends, let us **LOVE** one another, for **LOVE** comes from God. Everyone who **LOVES** has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not **LOVE** does not know God, because God is **LOVE**. This is how God showed His **LOVE**among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is **LOVE**, not that we **LOVED** God, but that He **LOVED** us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so **LOVED** us, we ought to **LOVE** one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we **LOVE** one another, God lives in us and His **LOVE** is made complete in us!

Romans 8:35,37-39: Who shall separate us from the **LOVE** of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?...We are more than conquerors through Him who **LOVED** us! For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the **LOVE** of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!!
