Sharon: I am a Christian, I believe in God. I worship him daily. I love him so much.

Bob: Who is God?

Sharon: He is a mystery. He loves everybody. He gave me a free will to choose whatever I want. He doesn't choose anyone but makes a "free offer" to everyone who is willing to use the free will God gave him to accept it. He never rebukes anyone. He doesn't condemn anyone. He would never say anything insulting to anyone. He only gives me nice things. He doesn't cause evil or sickness. etc. etc.

Bob: Oh. So, that is the god that you believe in?

Sharon: Yup.

Bob: I am glad that I am not a "Christian" then.

Sharon: What do you mean?

Bob: The God that I read about in the Bible whose name is YHWH doesn't match any of your description. That's the God that I worship.

I have read that book and the entire Word of God many, many times. God is God. The same God who destroyed the world with the Flood shall also be the One to burn it to a cinder. Dont believe that the One True God, the God of Abraham, is a vengeful God? I suggest you study world history, especially European, since the time of Christ. I'll give you the shortened version.

In the late 3rd and 4th centuries AD, the Roman Empire tried to adopt Christianity as their religion. The people rebelled against this. In the late 4th century, upon the death of Theodosius I, the Roman Empire was finally divided among his two sons. The western half of the empire rebelled against Christianization. The eastern half, not so much. The final fall came late in the 5th century after a series of crippling economic, political, and military blunders.

The Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) did not reject God as did their brothers and sisters to the west. After the division, they recovered, even reclaiming for a time a large part of the former western parts of the old empire. The people in the west still rejected God. Paganism reigned in the west. But the east flourished and survived centuries more, finally falling apart in the 11th/12th centuries.

The moral of the story, remain faithful to God and He will reward you. God does not reward disobedience, He punishes it.
