hi... yes I believe in the tithe... all is Gods but in faith He wants us to put 10% back into the cause... tithing is rewarded back to the faithful tithe giver through obedience to Gods requirements, by good feelings that are felt through giving and charity and there always seems to be more money when you tithe :).. it is a blessing all around.. warmly Mona
From what I understand, tithing is to be from the first fruits of all your increase. what happens then if you loose money that week as many have in these days? when the offering plate comes around do you take some? LOL.
Seriously though, tithing is a wonderful thing, it is an act of faith. It is a measurable way of bearing fruit unto God. God says if you tithe (Mal 3:11)
"I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,
Says the LORD of hosts;"
A man ( or tree) is known by his fruit and a man who sows in the garden has God as his partner. Some say we do not have to tithe but instead we get to. This is so true for me because i know where i've been and what God has delivered me out of financially.
The key I think is breaking through from a place of worry.
Worry is the opposite of faith.
And it is such a release to not worry about anything anymore and this is sometimes hard for wealthy people. Abraham was a man of faith. He gave tithes 100's of years before Moses or the Law.
"Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, meaning king of peace, 3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils. 5 And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren," Hebrews 7:2-5.
Beside money, Jesus said, "give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. God's image is upon us and everything we have is His. The first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. the Hebrew word for strength can also be translated as all your "resources." Everything we are or have belongs to Him. I just don't understand why Christians do not jump up and down at the :yay: thought of tithing. :bouncy: I call that a cheerful giver.
