Prosperity: What does Biblical prosperity look like?
It looks like this in the KJV & it reads purty good tobut I have found that the word prosperty is not found in the New Testament...Why is that ?
1.Deuteronomy 23:6~ Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
2.1 Samuel 25:6 ~ And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
3.1 Kings 10:7 ~ Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.
4.Job 15:21 ~ A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
5.Job 36:11 ~ If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
6.Psalm 30:6 ~ And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7.Psalm 35:27 ~ Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
8.Psalm 73:3 ~ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
9.Psalm 118:25 ~ Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
10.Psalm 122:7 ~ Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
11.Proverbs 1:32 ~ For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
12.Ecclesiastes 7:14 ~ In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
13.Jeremiah 22:21 ~ I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
14.Jeremiah 33:9 ~ And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
15.Lamentations 3:17 ~ And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
16.Zechariah 1:17 ~ Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
17.Zechariah 7:7 ~ Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?
De 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
In the new covenant this power is resident in the believer, and multiplied in the believer that receives the holy spirit, another picture of prosperity.
Notice in this teaching on tithes and offerings: the believers spoken of in the new testament where very familiar with the tithe and offerings. the promise to the tither.
The blessing, there's that word again should be poured out again on the tither and giver.
Notice also what the lord said how your words are stout against me, for you have said it is vain to serve the lord. Very interesting.
You see there is a law that is always working for, or against you on the earth, the law of sowing and reaping.
Ga 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
2nd Cor 9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
This context is about finances, and notice the word grace in this context be enriched unto all bountifulness.
Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
How about this:
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
First things First Jude, you have to understand prosperity first, for one you implied that the old testament is not pertinent to a christian, correct me if I am wrong.
*** PJ...I do understand Prosperity and I did not imply the OT is not Pertinent to a Christian...I stated I do not find the word "Prosperity" in the NT and asked Why is that ?...and many here gave much insight to there findings and Scripture to support it in Yea & Niegh...Although the word Prosperity is not found in the NT there is many Scripture that pertain to it, but it is not a Prosperity of Finances or Things or a Great Standing in the Ways of the World...It is solely Prosperity in the Believing, Knowing, Understanding that the Lord Christ Jesus is PROSPERITY...not the Things or Money that most people think it is...
Trucker George listed Mat 5:10~12 and I Agree with him and also the WORD of the LORD Christ Jesus...xo
