I do not believe there is an Old Covenant Scripture equivelant with this.

2Co 8:9 for ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that because of you he became poor--being rich, that ye by that poverty may become rich.

The H-W use this verse by saying:

See Christ became poor so that 'We could become Rich'

They use this verse to condone the ripping off of the masses for their own use,and pleasure.

When questioned by others,their usual repsonse is this.

'Oh don't you have faith unto this brother.

It does not take faith to rob people,it takes a greedy,hardened and despicable heart to to do this,

Especially to the poor.

Christs poverty was to empty himself and become a man.

My becoming rich,is being adopted as a child of GOD.

Mat 6:33 but seek ye first the reign of God and His righteousness, and all these shall be added to you.

When we are empowered of the holy Spirit to be seeking the Kingship of GOD,then do we not also get along with Him everything that He is,does, and has.

The best understanding might be this.

Christ became a man in order that He would make me a son of GOD.

Christ though all things had been made by Him,

and for His good pleasure,Yet He did not seek anything of this life.

He did not own anything in this life,Nor was He possessed by anything in this life.

He only sought to do the will of the Father and to ONLY Please Him.

Man,creates NOTHING,he uses what has already been created in order to make things.

Man enters this world with nothing,yet he/she wants almost everything their eye can see.

Man really owns NOTHING,yet man can be possessed ,or rather obssessed with/by almost everything.

Where in scripture is money referred to as "seed?" I only see it as the Word. Another "prosperity" teaching that is non-biblical.

Good study, TS.

ANANIAS AND SAPPHIRA (Acts 5) These were killed for lying about their greed to the Holy Spirit, it doesnt say they were wealthy, just that they owned a piece of property. Listing them reveals your ignorance of Scripture.

I don't know anything about being rich. but,

I don't agree with preachers being paid excessive amounts, or any amount really (IMO). I believe those who preach have a gift from the Lord.

Isn't there a verse somewhere that says "what is given to you freely, give freely"? I will have to look that up, correct me if I am wrong on that.

All I know is no preacher from my family has asked to be paid, there are times the churches have made them take money.. like put it in there coat pocket or bible when they are not paying attention...

My grandpa kept a record of his miles traveled and they paid him money to cover his gasoline, but he was a field minister at the time.

I may be biased but I will never ask for money to do what the lord wants me to do.

Afisherofmen, that is how we are supposed to be and Paul was that way, too. God does not want us poor as a church mouse, nor does He want us using manipulation to gain wealth.

2 Corinthians 2:17 (NIV) "Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God".

ET, Your Theology is as sloppy and incorrect as your spelling because you are to LAZY to look up correct spellings or what the Bible actually says for yourself. You just spout misinformation and expect others like myself to follow behind you cleaning up your mess.

Yes, it really IRKS me that one who so desires to teach is to lazy to do her own research"

GRRRRRRR!!!

2nd Cor 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9:9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

9:11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

9:12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

9:13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

There are only two things called seed in the Bible. One refers to grain that was used for crops and vineyards in early bible times.

Genesis 26:12: Then Issac sowed in the land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

The other "seed" is seen 275 times, mostly in the Old Testament. The seed is the "Word" which is Jesus, the offspring of God.

KJV (229) - carnally, 1; carnally + (07902), 2; child, 2; fruitful, 1; seed, 221; seedtime, 1; sowing time, 1;

NAS (223) - carnally, 1; child, 1; children, 3; descendant, 3; descendants, 105; descent, 1; family, 6; fertile, 1; grain, 3; intercourse, 2; line, 1; nation, 1; offspring, 38; offspring's offspring, 1; origin, 1; posterity, 1; race, 1; seed, 48; seedtime, 1; seminal, 1; son, 1; time, 1; what you sow, 1;

Jesus spoke of the "seed" in His parable, He spoke of Himself.

Matthew 13: 18-23~

"Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don't understand it.

Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they don't last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God's word.

The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God's word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.

The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God's word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!"

This last verse is revealing when it comes to the false teaching on hundredfold return on giving. Brought forth fruit is not "a hundredfold" return on giving money.

Paul told his brethren to go ahead of him and receive the bounty, or offering. I don't see him saying "seed" ever.

Cited from Dr. Bob C. Burns:

"It is tragic that some well-meaning ministers believe and teach that for every dollar one gives, he/she will get back $100. If that were true, one could give one dollar, turn it over three times, so to speak, and be a millionaire. ($1 X 100 = $100; $100 X 100 = $10,000; $10,000 X 100 = $1,000,000). Ratchet up that formula to giving $1,000 and turning it over three times; this individual would be a billionaire. No one believes that. No one is achieving that. The Word does not promise that. It is sad that some individuals are teaching that it does."
