"He came unto his own, and his own recieved him am not. But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" (John 1:11-12)
Don't you just love it when the holy spirit causes something to just jump off the page at you, lol.
Romans5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
5:19 For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Just as conemnation came upon all men because of one man's sin, so came the rightousness of one upon all men unto justification.
So, James, based on your interpretaion of what you have been taught in the Calvinist doctrine regarding the elect and the chosen being all pre-elected, and chosen by God, and all others have no choice in the matter to even have an opportunity for salvation. to be saved.
James replies:
Because of The Fall, ALL mankind is born with a will enslaved to sin. Because of this, ALL mankind will ONLY choose to reject Jesus. There is NO ONE who will repent and trust in Jesus.
The only people who do, are the ones the Holy Spirit enters and makes into a new creature, and then that person will naturally desire to repent and trust in Jesus.

Based on your Calvinst theology
James replies:
It is Reformed theology. Calvinism is just a nickname for five points of doctrine. This nickname would not even exist if it were not for the followers of James Arminius. Before that we were just Christians who were called Protestants by the Catholic church.
ET continues:
... Does this mean that God is a respector of persons, unlike what He has said about Himself...
James replies:
No. God is not a respecter of persons. He has chosen to save people from all nations and tribes, and from every walk of life.
I would have to say that God DOES seem to save more people who are poor and looked down upon by the world. He does not seem to save many famous and rich people.
ET continues:
and does this also mean that God is a separatist?... just asking, need to know, as not to witness to sinner about the Lord if they are not on the role call for the elect.
James replies:
The only definition of separatist I know of are those people who say that each ethnic group of people should separate and live only with others of the same ethnic group. I think we both know the Bible says that "all are one in Christ."
Are you intellectually dishonest or do you truly not understand what I am saying? You keep stating my position in error so that you can correct it. Why is it that I can state your position correctly, but you can not state mine???
Again, again, again, how many times must I say this James? Here it is again : Yes, we are elect, (marked out, appointed) before the foundation of the world, but only in Jesus Christ as His Body, as His Church. God foreknew, predestined, justified, and will glorify the Body of Christ (Us, we who are saved in Christ). God has elected the Body of Christ, we are invited to be in the Body of Christ by Faith in Jesus Christ.
James replies:
You are saying that election applies to the church as a group, and not as individuals.
Even when you elect a group, you STILL have to elect EACH individual.
And God speaks of electing each individual:
"Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."
And who would ever be upset with God merely electing the church? God elected individuals before the world was made and wrote their NAMES in the book of life. He did not write "the church".
The apostle Paul KNEW some would object, because he was talking about individual people:
19You will say to me then, "Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?" 20But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me like this?" 21 Has the potter no right over the clay

We can accept or decline,
James replies:
That idea contradicts several plain statements by Jesus, by Isaiah, and by Paul.
Twosparrows continues:
but we do not elect ourselves, God has elected the Body of Christ. You see, God decided about (elected) Jesus and a Church before the foundation of the world. We are part of it by Faith in the invitation of God. : Jesus
James replies:
You say, "we can accept or decline" ,and then you say
"but we do not elect ourselves"
The ONLY way those two statements can be reconciled is if you believe that election has NOTHING to do with salvation!
You don't get to write your name in the book of life, and the Holy Spirit is not giving out pens!
Don't you just love it when the holy spirit causes something to just jump off the page at you, lol.
Romans5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation;[ even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon [ all ] men unto justification of life.]
5:19 For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Just as conemnation came upon all men because of one man's sin,[ so came the rightousness of one upon [ all ] men unto justification.]
I want to make sure to say I have not doubted the truth, I am confident in Jesus words, that he obeyed the father in coming to this earth because his and our father so loves mankind, and he gave his best gift his only son.
But this setting of all in sin and all in righteousness, is a reflection of man's redemption.
OK, I see you truly don't understand, that is fine. Perhaps if you research "Cooperate Election" and couple it with foreknowledge of the individual you will understand my position. Which by the way reconciles all of Scripture, something your doctrine does not do.
