What if I jumped? Repeatedly? Rejected whole-heartedly and vociferously any and all attempts by the captain to get me into the boat?

Or Doubt is just my personal life-long battle. . . .

So much for discontinuing my rabbit trail, neh? :dunce:

don't forget though that is not up to the captain if you stay in that boat,,you can jump out of it,,it is possible and well spoken in Scripture about people turning from YHWH,,,salvation is there and is free but only if you're obedient,,if you are not obedient then you will fall from HIM,,it has happen over and over again,,it happened in the desert with people who first hand witnessed the power of YHWH,,if it happen to them it can happen to us,,we have to get this " I have arrived" mentality out our way of thinking,,,obedience to the MESSIAH is the only way,,for if you believe and are not obedient then you don't really believe,,like Sha'ul (Paul) says the goal of the Torah is MESSIAH,,so the Torah points you to MESSIAH and when you break the instructions in the Torah the MESSIAH is there,,if we had not the law we would be lawless,,and John 3 says sin is lawlessness (Torahlessness) sorry just thought i would chime in don't mean to stop you from taking over the post and i think you should spill whatever is on your heart,,we are to be here for one another,,we are to tell each other if we think the other has gone or is in danger of going astray,,we are to be as one as the FATHER and the SON are ONE,,we are all ONE body,,we should always be there for each other so let this community be there for you and spill your guts hahaha,,i love love love love love love you all so very much,,,may the peace of YHWH be with you always,,may HIS FACE shine on you all of your days,,all glory to our MESSIAH who has renewed the covenant,,and who is our HEAD

Mountainlass,

Let's say you are the boat captain of a row boat.

You are rowing in the middle of the lake and see a bunny drowning.

You row close to the bunny and day "little bunny do you want to be saved?"

The bunny tries to swim towards the sound of you voice and the boat, You take that as a "Yes"

You reach out and pluck the bunny from certain death, put him in the boat and head for shore.

Before you get to shore the bunny regains his strength and jumps out of the boat into the water.

What would you do?...Go back and get him?

How many times would you go back to get him?

And how much greater is God than you?

And how much more does God Love you than you love that bunny?

Remember in Matthew 18 Peter asks how many times he should forgive someone, 7 times? And Jesus answered no, but 777 times.

So do you think God practices what he preaches?

Mountainlass,

If we are faithless,

he will remain faithful,

for he cannot disown himself.

(2 Timothy 2:13)

If you have trusted Jesus Christ alone for salvation, if you have called upon His name for eternal security, then you are His. Press on in living that out, and He will help you do that, too.

Agreed Two, much more important!

Faith can go up and down like a roller costed, it doesnt matter unless you completely loose it, become depraved and stop believing in Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross.

We need not worry though because up or down we believe in Jesus Christ, and there is a verse in the Bible that starts with a capitol F and ends with a period that is the whole sum of our salvation and that is John 3:16, no more no less.

I think that a lot of the time, we judge/punish our own sin and put our own unforgiveness of ourselves in the way of God's forgiveness. How can you really accept God's forgiveness if you're holding onto and/or punishing yourself for a mistake? Forgiveness isn't just about avoiding hell, it's also about being free from guilt.

DHTM,

You are so right! So many Christians confuse guilt and conviction.

Guilt is a tool of the Enemy

Conviction is a tool of God

I got this from the paraphrased living bible

1 Corinthians 4:3 What about me? Have I been a good servant? Well, I dont worry over what you think about this, or what anyone else thinks. I dont even trust my own judgment on this point. 4:4 My conscience is clear, but even that isnt final proof. It is the Lord himself who must examine me and decide.

Therefore, if I could be wrong in judging myself, how much more if I were to judge others?

Mercymay, I like that last sentence, simple and to the point.
