Revelation 21:1

" And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea."

What, no sea?

*scratching head*

Any ideas?

Two,

I have studied the "old earth" belief you are speaking of. Prior to that, I dismissed it out of hand, but there could really be something there. I think Dake has one of the best short explanations in his study bible. I have not read it, but the quotes I have seen are all well thought out.

I guess it is like that with anything. I used to think there was no defense for infant baptism until I studied it. I still believe the adult consensual baptism is the correct way, but there is a lot of scripture to back the other side. It is funny how we seem to never want to change from what we were originally taught. Even when scripture proves that belief wrong.

Leon,

That is what I like about you; your a Berean, studied and not afraid to change your beliefs as scripture dictates. As for infant baptism, I see it more as a dedication to God until the child reaches the age of accountability.

Oh, I know. But I think it's quite possible that we will still get to enjoy things - and people/friends - we had here on Earth that meant much to us, that brought us enjoyment. It will be *so* much better and fuller than here now, but it will pale in comparison to the glory around us.

And if I'm wrong, I will be happily and joyfully so.

What about this? In the Bible the word "sea" can represent the people groups outside of Israel. For example the Beast rises out of the sea doesn't he? Perhaps this meaning is not that there is no ocean but rather there is no separation of people groups, no Jews and Gentiles, not racial differences and certainly no political or religious differences.

Mmm..maybe, but I think it would have said something like "there is no longer a bunch of little seas", because to say "there is no sea" seems like it would mean "there is no large groups of people" or even no people at all.
