What is your favorite book of the bible?

Hello all!

I'm just curious to know, what is your favorite book of the Bible? I really like the book of Ruth, it's a short book but it is so sweet and just a lovely read. I also like all 4 of the gospels but for different reasons. I'm being honest in saying I haven't finished the gospels of Luke or John as of yet.

Have a great day and God bless!

I have always enjoyed reading the Psalms, Philippians, Colossians, Luke, and Esther. Philippians would probably be my top favorite, but it's so hard to pick one! Each book in the Bible has something valuable to teach us and guide our steps closer to God!

Margo, I love that you chose Philemon! So much theology and instruction in doctrine! Great choice.

I am more of an OT kind of guy. I love discovering the symbolism and foreshadowings of Christ. I do really like the prophets, as well. If I had to choose one book, I would have to say Romans or Hebrews. Either one. They are just so complete, and I can identify with Paul.

Before the debate starts, i know that Paul's authorship of Hebrews is contested, but the only reason it was included in canonized scripture is that Eusebeus convinced the council that Paul was the author.

River,

The Roman Catholic Church has a library that contains the notes to all the various councils. I wish I had saved the link, but I stumbled on it from a yahoo search. I am sure you can find it. There are some fascinating discussions that took place about which books to canonize. Revelations was only canonized because they had canonized John's other writings. There was furious debate over many of the books. There were also a few scriptures that were supposed to be bracketed as added after the original manuscript, but over time the brackets and annotations were left out of English versions of the bible. The most famous of these is Mark 16:9-20, which were not part of the original manuscript.
