The subtlities of legalsim:TithingPosted : 18 Dec, 2010 12:41 PMI think that anything that can be used to brow beat a congregation about or that can be used as a measure or score is legalistic. If tithing is emphasized in such a way by church leadership that people are made to believe or feel that it is necessary in order to maintain their standing/status within the congregation or before God then it's legalistic. I believe there are teachings on either side of this question that take us away from the Truth. |

The subtlities of legalsim:TithingPosted : 20 Dec, 2010 01:03 PMBut woe unto you, Pharisees! For ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other undone. ((( The other ??? is what, when, how & where to me )))... |

The subtlities of legalsim:TithingPosted : 20 Dec, 2010 01:57 PMIt says love God with "all your heart, soul, mind and strength." The word for strength can also be translated resources. Resources include money, obviously. You cannot tally your love for God in an abstact way, but tithing is truly a measureable example of being wholy dedicated to Him. And Jesus watched who and how much was given. I don't know about you, but tithing may be the only way to demonstate you Christianity and set us apart from the heathen. |

The subtlities of legalsim:TithingPosted : 21 Dec, 2010 05:51 AMIt is the truth that you know that frees you, the truth you dont agree with and deny will put you in bondage. GEORGE ENOCH TITHED, BECAUSE HE HAD THIS TESTIMONY THAT HE PLEASED THE LORD, AND NO ONE CAN PLEASE HIM UNLESS THEY ARE A DOER OF THE WORD. NO LEGALISM IN LOVING GOD. |
