Admin	Christian "concepts" not found in the bible Posted : 28 Nov, 2010 08:09 PM Something that has always interested me are concepts that we Christians use that are not directly found in the bible vs things that are. There are things that are directly stated or defined in the bible. We "shall not steal". Love is defined in 1 Cor 13. There are things that Jesus directly teaches us, like the Beatitudes in Mt 5. Constrast those with things that are not directly found. The "rapture" is not mentioned - yes you can build a case for it, but the term is never used. "Personal relationship with Jesus" is never found. Again you might be able to build a case for it, but the term and thus an exact definition is not available. "Pre-tribulation vs Post tribulation" again concepts. "Gods personal will for your life" What are some other terms/concepts like this that you can think of? Post Reply

How is it possible, that what you have postulated can be a truth, when it is written: "O LORD, I KNOW THAT THE WAY OF MAN IS NOT IN HIMSELF; IT IS NOT IN MAN THAT WALKETH TO DIRECT HIS STEPS!" [Jeremiah 10:23] or, "TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART AND LEAN NOT ON THINE OWN UNDERSTANDING, BUT IN ALL THY WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AND HE SHALL DIRECT THY PATH" [Proverbs 3:5, 6] How can it be stated, that "THE LORD HELPS THEM THAT HELP THEMSELVES," when man does not even know how a day will end, or even a second in time..? How can you assist unto the Lord, so as to have Him assist you, when you cannot fathom the end..? "HE HATH MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME: ALSO HE HATH SET THE WORLD IN THEIR HEART, SO THAT NO MAN CAN FIND OUT THE WORK THAT THE LORD MAKETH FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END" [Eccl 3:11] If you cannot "FIND OUT THE WORK THAT THE LORD MAKETH FROM BEGINNING TO THE END", how can you move towards doing something to help yourself, so that He can help you afterwards..? pc Post Reply

How about Communion , it's not in there either. Nor is accepting Jesus, asking Jesus into your heart, giving your life to Jesus, putting Jesus on the throne of your life and so many more. We are to worsjip in spirit and in truth. Worship-Service (who made this up) Cell gruops Going to Retreats. Pastors conferences,or any conferences. Anouncements during the meeting of the Saints I am a Sinner saved by grace. Why is everythng called 'ministry',toilet bowl ministry picking up cigarette butts ministry,parking lot ministry. How about staying home to sleep ministry (I just made this one up,so might the other be made up also).. Short term missions trips. Partnering with me/us Repenamce of sin is a prerquisite unto salvation. Pray the Sinners prayer. I feel God leading me this way. Holy Ghost goose bumps. Coicidence Good Luck Christians living in fear. Purpose driven church Purpose driven life. Purpose driven notebook Alpha Program Holy Ghost bartender I am a kings kid I name and claim this in Jesus name. Charismatic movement,or any movements for that matter. Paid Pastors. Church of the Nazarene etc. Denominational names. Praise reports Prayer warriors woman pastors Church programs Many things that have been established within the body of believers have been placed there at the forefiture of the Gospel. Songs picked out for the people to sing. How about being led of the Spirit of GOD/1st Corinthians 14:26-33 When we look at the Word of GOD and see how we are to be meeting together,can we see that we do not meet as the LORD says to be meeting in His Word. Since we do not meet as the LORD says in 1st Corinthians chaptes 11-14,could we not conclude that the believers are meeing in error. Should this not be confessed as being in Sin. No wonder why we do not see the Holy Spirit as in the early Believers. But what do I know, I just push the pedals and steer the wheel of that big truck. St.George Post Reply
View Profile History	Christian "concepts" not found in the bible Posted : 16 Dec, 2010 06:58 AM Christmas is not in the bible.It was actually derived from the pagan holiday saturnalia.More like,some of the less than true Christians of the time,were jealous that the pagans had a holiday(which was to worship the fake roman god saturn) and they didn't,so they came up with using Christ as an excuse to have a holiday.Giving gifts because the wise men gave them to Jesus,not a good excuse either,because the wise men didn't give gifts to each other,just to Jesus.I'm sure God would appreciate people stamping his son's name on a holiday so they didn't feel guilty.No,I've never seen Christmas in the Bible.
