I've started this in answer to Phillip John's question of

"What is your understanding of being born again?" (paraphrasing)

Sure Two,

as a Catholic I believe that every morning when I awake I have to "pick up" my Cross and work at my Salvation daily. Otherwise I would take it for granted and there would not be any "fruit" or any need to be held accountable for my actions and deeds.

Arch, here is the Scripture which deals with your dilema.

Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Please notice that we are called not to be working at our Salvation, for that position alone belongs to Yeshua.

We are called to be working out our Salvation, which is something different.

The one empowering, and doing the actual work is GOD Himself.

If I could work at my salvation,How Long will it take for me to get it 100% correct.

When i finally get that right, will i then be needing Yeshua to be saving me from the wrath/judgement of GOD.

George,

Excellent point! I did not mean to imply that there is anything that I can do to "get paid" by being Saved. What I meant is that I have to be conscious of the fact that if I do not "Follow" My Lord and Savior and do The Will of God...I put my Salvation in jeopardy.

God gives us His Grace and Sanctifies us, but we have to Cooperate with Him. As Powerful as God is...He allows us to say No to Him. We can do this by not cooperating and continuing to Sin and disobey Him.

Steve you so funny!

Salvation in Roman Catholic theology is NOT by grace through faith but a complex adherence to the sacraments and rituals as legislated by church hierarchy

Sometimes you really make me laugh!, Thanks Steve!

Chuck,

Talk about Laughs...

You write:

"Salvation in Roman Catholic theology is NOT by grace through faith but a complex adherence to the sacraments and rituals as legislated by church hierarchy"

Explain the "...complex sacraments and rituals..." legislated by The Catholic Church.

@ arch:

Hello arch:

I just want to ask a few very simple questions.

How big is your GOD.

How deep is His Grace.

How much sin is forgiven and atoned for with the Blood of Yeshua.

Who is the one that keeps your soul safe,You or Yeshua.

Who keeps you in the hand of Yeshua, yourself or Yeshua.

Please answer these,when you can.

George, the issue is not how big God is, but what God has said in his word. What Arch is in agreement with scripture, of course it has nothing to do with being born again.

Arch it is not important what the church thinks or believe when it is not in agreement with the word of God, Baptism and especially infant baptism is not of faith of the individual being baptized.

Steve, what would you like to know? The history of? The meaning of? The practice of? Pre-Vactican II? Post-Vatican II? That is 7 sacraments x 5 subjects = 35 subjects. Can you be more specific?

I love it gentlemen when you argue/discuss a doctrine. It provides a venue for me to hear what other people think at the other side of the world.

My idea of what born again means, is that I accept the gift of salvation, I am a new creation, the old is gone, the new has come. That Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father except thru him. That there is no other mediator but Jesus Christ. That I have to be certain in my faith where I go before I die.

What is the use of baptism if a heart has other doctrines? Like Jesus instead of being "the way" becomes just "a way", and to have many others? Like there is other mediators other than Jesus Christ? That there is purgatory and family of the dead can pay for prayers to transport the dead to some place agreeable? That we can pray to the dead (necromancy) to mediate for us? To dead Mary mother of Jesus, dead canonized saints, even inanimate objects are prayed to mediate in a livings behalf? Why not pray directly like what Jesus taught us how to pray? Why create saints and more saints from the dead who doesnt even know their memories are being made object of devotions? Italian saints prayed to by Tagalog devotees maybe? Is that possible? They are made like God becoming omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent?

Catholics do believe in Jesus Christand in many others opening doors and windows to idolatry.
