Yes, I agree with you 2sparrows, many blessed men in the bible had concubines - who were single women. David with Bathsheba was adultery because she was married, his passion resulted to murder, yet they were blessed with the wisest man, who himself was blessed and kept the most concubines for expansion of his kingdom.

I think it was allowed a long time ago when different countries with constitutions were not established yet. I guess each government were given godly wisdom to make the practice obsolete surely with observation that with already growing population it now brings chaos than order and good.

Still, if biblical patriarchs had fallen to have multiple wives, why not the modern man? I dont think men of today are holier and more controlled in their passion. If David had fallen with just a glance at Bathshebas bathing, how much more Christian men of today with modern media and fashion that left nothing to the imagination?

Well, I guess, as Christian men, you are challenged to find your one proverbs 31 woman that you will have no lack of gain, one who will do you good, and not harm ALL the days of her life. I think even Solomon among his thousand women had one proverbs 31 woman, the subject in his song of songs.

@ Cobbler: Wow, awesome point. Is there a link to someone who teaches that more in depth or a website with a list of those? The anecdotal/logical makes perfect sense and may help me answer someone regarding a point in another scripture setting. If there is a list of scriptural examples of this, I'd appreciate a copy!

@marikashome I will have to do some research in the hebrew vs greek. If I remember correctly, I first heard it from R. C. Sproul in one of his videos.

Concerning Wives:applause:

DT 17:17 Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away;

1 Kings 11:1 But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter

of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites

2 from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, You shall

not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts

after their gods. Solomon clung to these in love. 3 And he had seven hundred

wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his

heart. 4 For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after

other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his

father David. NKJV

Hi Everyone,

The past few weeks I have been wondering about this subject.

It must be the 'era' of time, like some have been answering it

was before the Mosaic Laws and The New Covenant/New Testament.

thank you for posting this subject.
