Sunday 10/24/10 Pastor Alex sermon: Back to the Basics #4 Isaiah 61:1-4

The Spirit of the Lord is upon us like it was upon Jesus. Jesus came to proclaim freedom to us. He came to remove our heaviness and our brokenness. Jesus came to give us liberty and the oil of joy.

The Year of Jubilee happens every 49 years. It is a celebration of freedom to servants and captives. Today there are many Christians being held captive by things they wont let go. God says for us to let these things go so He can set us free. He will give us joy and bless us. God wants us to continue on the path that He has for us but first we must let go and

be free.

There is a door open for all of us. Its an open doorway for us to become what we can be in Jesus. The problem is that we dont want to leave our comfort zone. We fear the unknown and we wont take what the Lord has for us.

We must realize that we are not walking in everything that God has for us. We must see this and go to God for his help. We, through prayer and humility to God, can get into Gods presence to hear what He wants for us.

Isaiah 61:3 We should want to be called trees of righteousness . We should want to have the planting of the Lord so God can be glorified .

AMEN

This is too good to pass up. Oil of joy is found in:

Psa 45:7 "Thou hast loved righteousness and hatest wickedness, Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee, Oil of joy above thy companions. " Young's Lit Trans. In this case the Oil of Joy is referring to the Messiah it is not any kind of spiritual oil.

But in Isa 61:3 To appoint to mourners in Zion, To give to them beauty instead of ashes, The oil of joy instead of mourning, A covering of praise for a spirit of weakness, And He is calling to them, `Trees of righteousness, The planting of Jehovah--to be beautified.' We find another prophetic passage referring to the Messiah. In this case the oil of joy is something that is a gift from Messiah.

So, Mr Row, I would say there are at least two passages that tell us what it is.

As for the rest of the post I don't think our problem is that we have things to let go of in order to get whatever God has for us but that we need to take hold of what God has for us. Paul said. Phi 3:12 Not that I already received or already have been perfected, but I press on, if I also may lay hold, inasmuch as I also was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. 1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and confessed the good confession before many witnesses. 1Ti 6:18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to share, generous,

1Ti 6:19 treasuring away for themselves a good foundation for the coming age, that they may lay hold on everlasting life.

PJ is right, Health and wealth is in the Bible. But that's as far as what he is right about goes. The preaching of the prosperity gospel, and the teachings of the Word of Faith movement take it farther. They literally teach that God can be manipulated to do what He is "obligated" to do" by His own promises as long as we do whatever it takes to cause Him to have to do what He says He will do. This is the reason so many people find out that it doesn't "work". God's response to me is dependant on my actions and behavior and not His grace and mercy toward me. Granted these preachers get the Word right some times but the idea that man can work his own religion in such a way as to manipulate God doesn't wander far from the teachings of the priests of Molech. God cannot and will not be manipulated by man and those who think He can be are preaching a gospel of folly and do not understand the Word of God.

2Pe 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, as there will be teachers of falsehood among you also, who will cunningly introduce fatal divisions, disowning even the Sovereign Lord who has redeemed them, and bringing on themselves swift destruction.

2Pe 2:2 And in their immoral ways they will have many eager disciples, through whom religion will be brought into disrepute.

2Pe 2:3 Thirsting for riches, they will trade on you with their canting talk. From of old their judgement has been working itself out, and their destruction has not been slumbering.

AMEN!! I started not to post behind your post, P.J. ,because mr.row said some ugly things to me in the Sunday sermon 10-10-10. I dont see any TRUTH coming out of his mouth. He attacked me simply because I agree with you on most everything you say and the reason I agree is because I see it in scripture. It amazes me the way they find everything so funny! Not going to be funny to them on judgement day! They have eyes but they see not; they have ears but they hear not.

Deborah it "amazes" me, that I say the same thing about you and the all false teachers you follow here!

So how do we know WHO is right? You claim what you believe is from the Bible and I claim what I know is from the Bible, one of us is wrong because we can't both be right. I have my method to know to discern truth from lies, and it ain't based on feelings and experiences, whats yours?

On judgment day there may not be but there will be cheering. All of creation will be cheering when the false teachers and sinners get thrown into the lake of fire!

So what you going to do when you find out the false teachers you follow are wrong?

Thunder you have never heard me say I am right, There is only one truth and that is the word of God. You will never hear me put labels on believers as you did in your response, for the simple reason, you have to go outside the word of God to do it, and that wuill never be right with the lord.

I will say this Thunder give us an example of what you call manipulating God, and let us look at scripture in light of what you say.
