Is this Biblical?...

Do animals have equal standing with mankind in the eyes of God, to the point that churches should hold a special ritual service to bless them?

Is this paganism or false worship, handing out God's blessings upon animals?

God says NOTHING UNCLEAN will enter the kingdom of God, so does this mean no animals will be in heaven, so there is no need to hand out God's blessings upon animals? Or does this only apply to unlcean animals such as dogs, pigs, snakes, etc?

What does the Bible say?

Sorry Ella. Where ever did I get Marie? It is no excuse but I am doing this all on a phone. Please forgive me.

You can call me anything, just don't call me late for lunch!

So what about that scripture? Hehehe

And Godshandiwork mentioned Balaams Donkey which brings me to another point often overlooked:

The scripture does NOT say that God spoke through to donkey, rather; God opened the Donkeys mouth so he could speak. What the Donkey says shows a incredible self awareness, sense of right and wrong, to whom he belonged and able so see spiritual things. If you read this passage closely you will be amazed.

WOW! you guys are a rough crowd:excited: so many good answers, and scriptures, and GHW just got besides herself...

2sparrow, I don't mind you calling me Marie, Ella Marie sound like a winenr to me... and I promise never to call you late for luch:yay::eat:

Ok, heres goes the scripture I just knew someone would get. So everybody open your Bibles and read: GENESIS CHAPTER 1,VERSES 21-22.: So God created every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

And GOD BLESSED THEM, SAYING BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLE AND FILL THE WATERS IN THE SEAS, AND LET NIRDS MULTIPLE ON THE EARTH.

But if you will notice everything God made He spoke out a blessing upon it by name, and we can read the blesseing He placed upon what He created. Everything except in verse 24, when He created the living creatures, cattle ad creeping things and the beast of the earth, BUT GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD.

Yet He does not give out His blessings upon these animals. He say He saw that they are very good, but no blessings. Geneisis chapter 1, He blesses the fish, and the birds and tells them to be furitful and multiply, and on the 5th day he creates all the other animals, but there are no blessings. I wonder why?

Yes, I also believe there are certain animals that will be in heaven and some are already there.

2sparrow, I know you're happy your horses will be there. In fact, Jesus just might borrow one to ride on back to earth:yay:

Sorry, Jude I don't think your lil mut is going to be there, because Revelation 22, tells us that Outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and practice lies.

Dogs in the bible no matter how cute or how smart they may be, or how helpful they are, dogs are also known as unclean animals because they will eat anything and do anthing....maybe Dennis will get you a cat or a chicken or a rab-bit :bunny:for Christmas.

And yes, I do see problems with churches setting aside a special day to bless animal. Many of these churches don't set aisde a special day to bless or call the unsaved to Christ. The problem with this practice as I see it, it that they are counting animakls just as equal to human as many animal lovers do regarding their animls. They view them as being better than humans, when they are nto, they are animals God created to assist mankind in work, bringing comfort, etc.

I mean , c/mon lets be real, how much work have you ssen a cat do?:excited::yay: sorry Dennis:peace:

I think this is always an interesting topic. Having had a farm with several animals and mostly horses I can say that I know horses are in heaven and I think they are all Arabians. I am not saying that they will go there when they die but there are several passages that do refer to this. Anyway just about everything I would have said has been said already. Sorry E.T.

I think it is ok to bless your animals and to pray for them. I believe that God loves all of his creation whether they are clean or not. If I can have a horse and a guitar in heaven I'll be first in line!! I'd like to have a good dog too but I understand the unclean thing so maybe I can have a lion or something like that instead.

I also sometimes pray for the wild animals. Especially the ones next to the mashed potatoes and gravy!!

I do not believe blessing animals is of any importance.

Yet I do believe animals have rigths.

They have the right to be food and clothing..
