Oh... but one more thing... We must remember that we're to glorify God w/ our lives and when we don't value that which He gives us, we might as well just tell people that what He gives is worthless. You certainly would not consider a pearl to be worth much if you tossed it at a pig!

Hope some of this makes sense... Not thinking clearly at all right now...

You are right in that it is mentioned in Chapter 7 and the context is not very clear. I would encourage you to read Chapter 13. As I said, it is a chapter long theme.

My teaching notes added that the gospel should be given in accordance with the spiritual capacity of the learner. The dogs and pigs mentioned in 7:6 were despised and considered unredeemable.

I am not disagree with that. But I mean, based on the verse.. For example, could God just warn us not to do useless and stupid things?

Not doing useless and stupid things is a Biblical principle and is talked about in many places in the Bible, especially Proverbs.

However, if I understand the question correctly, I think this scripture is more specific than a generalized "don't do useless stuff." I think it is more of an example of useless stuff not to do.

Did I understand the question? If not, keep trying, I bet I can get it eventually!

Err... Yeah kinda lol it's not ur fault, Rose. I sometimes confuse myself haha.

Well, my first thought was, of whether the verse was talking about warning to not do useless/stupid things.

But, then you guys came with great answers of pearls=gospel, which I am agree with that.

And again, if there is another interpretation outside that it was talking about gospel, I would love to know about this how are this "stupid" things defined, what could be categorized as stupid, what couldn't. Yes, Proverbs tells us alot about being smart and not a fool, but specifically this verse just caught my attention. That's all :)

Gospel=Pearls makes sense, but I'm not sure that it's saying "don't share the gospel to pigs". We're supposed to take the gospel to the entire world. I think it means something more like "don't let pigs hold the pearls". I think an example of what this verse means would be how some churches are abandoning their principles and beliefs and watering down the gospel to lure more people into church. They might get some good people into the church, but they're going to get a lot more people that don't really care about "the gospel", and those people are going to trample the truth, turn it on itself, and be very very poor hypocritical witnesses to the gospel of Christ and end up causing a lot of internal damage to the church and it's foundation. We can show/witness our pearls/truth/faith to everyone to try to convert them, but don't actually let them witness about the faith themselves until they are a new creature/truly converted/no longer a pig.

Matt. 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

And technically all gentiles were once dogs/pigs. Anyone who is not a christian would be considered a dog/pig, but I don't think that means we shouldn't witness to them or let them become children of God. We just shouldn't compromise the gospel in doing so. I think that's what it means.

@Ice:

Galatians519-21:

5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

I am not saying that all those were not stupid actions but, those are extreme examples for stupidness, everyone would know that it is stupid, end of discussion. I am thinking more like, other examples other than these extreme actions..

@Mark:

Matthew28:19-21:

28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Means we have to:

1. Go

2. Teach all nations

3. Baptize

4. Teach them to observe all things whatsoever God have commanded us

5. Believe that God is with us always till the end of the world

Yeah I agree that we should share the gospel to anyone, based on that Mathew28:19-21. When Jesus met His disciples, He didnt force Simon to admit that He was God, instead He demonstrated miracles and just simply did what the Holy Spirit told Him about the location full of fishes (Luke5:4). Then, He just asked simple born again question of who He was in Matthew16:15-17.
