Once again! I can't help it!

Ok, so...to bring a dead horse up for some more beating...I was just thinking about the verse in the bible where Jesus is telling His disciples and followers that there would be a time of trouble coming. He said, "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day"(Matt. 24:20). Then I thought about the counter-argument that I hear a lot, "Look at the context! Duh! He was a Jew speaking to Jews, the Sabbath is only for the Jews in the Old Covenant". So then I was thinking...but Jesus knew He was going to die...and He knew He would be putting everyone that believed in Him under the New Covenant...everyone...including Jews. Isn't every believer under the New Covenant now? So Why did Jesus tell these people that they should pray their flight wasn't in the winter, full of suffering and starvation...and then also tell them to also pray that their flight wasn't on the Sabbath either? After His death and the entrance of the New Covenant? That is, if it's not important to New Covenant Christians? I mean...it seems like a pretty big deal if Jesus compared avoiding breaking the holiness of the Sabbath to avoiding suffering and starvation, right?

Well again, like I said before, this topic never catchs my interest. So, I never even meditate on this which produces no revelation. But, Jesus came to this world not to erase the laws but to fulfill it since there was, is and will be no one that would be able to fulfill the laws but Jesus only.

Nah I know that my answer does not have anything to do with your question lol but.. Ya know hehe

It doesn't catch your interest at all that the 10 commandment law points out sin, and that ignoring the 4th commandment would be a sin? I know I talk about and focus on this a lot...but...I'm just saying...I think it's a big deal to ignore it.

What SDA miss is that "our" rest is now found in Jesus. You used the verses in Hebrews that support this to support your view, so it would be wasted time to argue the point with someone who has their mind already made up.

I personally think if someone observes the sabbath as an act of worship it is a good thing, as long as they are not thinking this needs to be done to be saved or as proff of salvation.

Like JesusLovesYouAndMe has said, this topic never catchs my interest either.

I did not remember saying that we should ignore it lol. Again, it is the Word of GOD Himself, not of others. But, like I said, Jesus has fulfilled the law when He came here, so I personally have just no interest in talking of that topic. I think it is all based on our preferences, like some are really interested in missions, others in churches, others in praise or worship, etc.

So, once again, sorry for not even giving you any thought lol if I ever get the answer one day, I will forward the message to u =)

Blessings.

I totally Agree...There are many persons that want to omit this 4th Commandment as well as others there in...

Ya know...its a fact that Jesus* praticed Sabbath ( Rest )...

I understand where MrRow is comming from by Our Rest is in Jesus...I get it...but Lets dig deeper...How bout...Psalm 23 verse 2~ He maketh Me to lay down in green pastures...etc..etc.. verse 3 ~ He Restoreth My Soul...

My point is...When we Sabbath ( Rest ) we are actually Resting in Jesus*...xo

To be honest, I am not even sure I remember all of those 10 commandments lol

For something I could not keep, I feel there is no use for me to remember it. Then again since Jesus came to this world to fulfill the law which before He had wisely considered human as not capable to fulfill the law, if not so, why would He came to this earth anyway, the old system was still working well, still no need to change it with a new one. I forgot the verse, but Paul also mentioned about this.

Never ever once I stated that I intend to ignore or we should ignore God's words, it is God's words and I honor it. So, please don't even question it lol

And, I never suggested for you to have no interest for that particular part, I only stated that it was not something that caught my attention. If it caught your attention, then go for it. People have preferences, some are really into spreading the Word on missions, some are really into building God's Kingdom, some are really into marriage, etc. There is nothing wrong with it. Maybe it caught your attention to explain to other people with the same preferences as you do =)

But, if I ever got the answer, I will forward it to you, k =)

Blessings.

If someone loves Jesus, s/he would not do anything to hurt Him, right? What would Jesus feel when we steal? =)

As Christians we should know the 10 commandments. Jesus is king and the commandments are His laws.

I don't want to be pretentious here...but even Jesus gave commandments...

"If you love me, keep my commandments" John 14:15.

Jesus wants us to follow Him. We can't on our own, but He changes us and gives us power and the Holy Spirit. Please don't deny that power. We are supposed to be new creatures, no longer dwelling in sin. We know sin by the law, and we should at least give our best effort to avoid sin. Christ will cover our mistakes, but I do believe we have to have the desire to be free from sin, and if we have the desire to change, then we should be trying.
