The only one here who keeps saying that the word of God is not true is you. I think you have a guilty conscience. Romans was a letter to the churches in Rome. These were gentile believers mostly, so Paul had to explain the Christian faith to them completely. In this letter you will find almost anything you need to know about our faith. Now Paul can be confusing until you learn his style of writing. He never mentions works because h knows that if you are truly saved, you will automatically be drawn to do them. The Holy Spirit will make sure of that. When you read this book, in context with the rest of the bible, especially the NT, you will get a clear understanding of Paul's meaning. Like all of Paul's letters, this one warns repeatedly that we need to examine ourselves to make sure we are truly saved. It is only after we receive the Holy Spirit that we are saved. Chapter 9 deals with God's sovereignty. It tells us that God chooses who will be saved and that we should not question His right to do so. Now, does He call everyone at some point in their lives? I have no idea, the bible doesn't say. All I know is that it is His choice, not mine. Yes, PJ, we have to have faith. God gives us the faith but we have to decide to use it or not. Yes we can increase it, or increase our ability to display it. But it is still a gift from God. Now, if you will be more specific, I will tell you whatever you want to know, but I cannot read your mind, and Romans contains too much for me to do a quick condensing for you. Leon Post Reply

You deny the word of God as truth, then you accuse us of not believing it. You make these hateful statements that only prove how ugly your heart is. If you have an argument, present it by all means. But it looks like you only understand what man has told you because you can't present your side, you can only insult. If you really have a point to present, I will listen. I will be the first to admit that I don't have it all figured out. I am always willing to learn. But nobody likes to be insulted by someone who can't even express themselves. Yes, you hat Calvin, we get it already. But you have let that hatred cloud your judgment when it comes to the word. You have let it place yourself above God. Think about what you have told us here. You insist that it doesn't matter what God wants, you can override His will in your life. That is the most arrogant statement I have ever heard. Leon Post Reply
