His dreadful threatenings!

(Thomas Brooks, "Paradise Opened" 1675)

Sin and sorrow, iniquity and miseryalways

go hand in hand.

"The wages of sin is death," Romans 6:23. Every

sinner is worthy of death. "Those who do such things

deserve death," Romans 1:32. If God is a just and

righteous God, then sin cannot absolutely escape

unpunished; for it is but "a just and righteous thing

with God"to punish the sinner who is worthy of

punishment. As God must be justso He must be

faithful. And if He must be faithfulthen He must

carry out His threatenings against sin and sinners!

Look! As there is not a promise of God but shall surely

take place; just so, there is not a threatening of God

but shall surely take place. The faithfulness of God, and

the honor of God, are as much concerned in making good

of His dreadful threateningsas they are concerned

in making good of His precious promises. God has given

it from His own mouth, that:

"He will by no means clear the guilty;"

"the soul that sins, shall surely die;"

"the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him;"

"He will render to every man according to his deeds."

Will God abrogate His own lawsor will He dare men to

sport and play with His threatenings? Will not every wise

and prudent king look to the execution of their own laws?

And shall not that God, who is wonderful in wisdom, and

whose understanding is infinitesee all that all His laws

are put in execution against offenders? Surely yes!

"He will repay them for their sins and destroy them

for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy

them!" Psalm 94:23

"I will not look on you with pity or spare you; I will

repay you in accordance with your conduct and the

detestable practices among you. Then you will know

that it is I the LORD who strikes the blow!" Ezek. 7:9

"When I sharpen My flashing sword and My hand grasps

it in judgment, I will take vengeance on My adversaries

and repay those who hate Me." Deuteronomy 32:41

Sorry if I came across as arrogant, or intimidating. I asked very clear question twice and you still haven't responded.

We are in a Biblical discussion forum, after you included yourself as part of the new covenant, I was curious as to what passage do you think establishes that.

When one responds to a clear question, with another question. It is behavioral indicator of someone stalling. Ask any police officer, school teacher, etc.. when someone doesn't have an answer, they stall in this manner. Psychology 101.

I just didn't want to play this stalling game where I have to keep repeating the same question with a grown man. If you have an answer post it, if not then don't.

Are we not glad that Jesus is better than psychology.

You see by your Question you might imply we are not in a new covenant, and I am not a partaker of it, better yet I would say if you will study you will see How Jesus answered those, who he knew where against him.

Mr 11:28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Mt. 22:15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

21 They say unto him, Caesars. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesars; and unto God the things that are Gods.

22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

27 And last of all the woman died also.

28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

Sometimes it just is not possible to get the answer.

Was it that hard??????????

:nahnah::party:

I was always taught what the new covanent is, if I know anyone should.

Jesus died on the cross to forgive us are sins.

grace is free, salvation by death on the cross.

The old was the blood of a lamb and keeping the law.

Now was it that hard???????

dgrimater,

thanks for posting. Didn't answer the question though. You said what you thought the new covenant was. I wanted to know; why you think you are part of the New Covenant?

Thanks

There are only two kinds of people in the world the saints and sinners. Granted all of us were sinners at sometime but in Gods time we where shown the light of the Gospel and were saved. The new covenant between God and Israel is in Jeremiah 31 this new covenant has spiritual aspects fulfilled in the church age such as I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And for I will forgive their iniquity and their sin I will remember no more. With the giving of the Holy Spirit and the regeneration at salvation we received the Law of God on our hearts. When we were saved our sins were forgiven by the atonement of Christ. But the final fulfillment will not be until the millennial kingdom of Christ. In verses 27-30 Israel will be rebuilding from the disaster and death during the seven year tribulation when 2/3 of Israel will perish in Zechariah 13 it is written "It will come about in all the land," Declares the LORD, That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined And test them as gold is tested They will call on My name, And I will answer them;

I will say, 'They are My people, And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

After the tribulation when (Romans 11:26) all Israel will be saved, as it is written: The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. When Christ returns to the earth for His millennial kingdom then the final fulfillment will take place.

Jeremiah 31 27"Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and with the seed of beast.

28"As I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to overthrow, to destroy and to bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant," declares the LORD.

29"In those days they will not say again,

'The fathers have eaten sour grapes,

and the children's teeth are set on edge.'

30"But everyone will die for his own iniquity; each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge.

31"Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,

32not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD.

33"But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

34"They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

There is no national salvation to anyone but Israel.

As for what PJ is talking about I dont know but one thing I do know is God will deal out wrath and retribution on those who know not God and do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Where does that fit into your new covenant?

To dgrimater no one was ever justified by animal blood or keeping the law to say anything else robs Christ of His glory. Sorry but I am very passionate about what Christ did on the cross.

The whole of humanity is under this dispensation of Grace, that does not mean they accept it, but as a believer why would you want to exalt satan, why would you not want to honor the lord?
