The Black Church's Commitment to Obama

By Lloyd Marcus

Dear Black Church,

What I am about to say will probably anger you. As a black Christian, I have struggled with whether or not to address this sensitive topic. I only ask that you give my statements prayerful consideration.

Ninety-six percent of black voters, many of whom are Christians, cast their votes for Barack Obama. I question: Did your desire to see a black man in the White House trump your commitment to Christ and Christian values and principles? While I believe many white Christians also made a racist decision by voting for Obama solely because he is black, I am taking this occasion to address my fellow black Christians.

Now wait a minute. I know the hair is rising on the back of your neck. Don't go crazy on me. Please hear me out.

My family and most of my black friends are Christians striving to live lives which honor Christ. And yet, there is a huge disconnect between their Christianity and their irrational, blind, and near-idol-worship of Obama.

Will the truth about Obama make a difference? For some, I think not. For those of you who value your commitment to Christ more than your loyalty to skin color, here are a few facts.

Obama supports abortion. He also supports the vile murderous practice of partial birth abortion. So as not to offend his pro-choice supporters while an Illinois state senator, Obama voted three times against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which would protect babies who survive abortions. According to Illinois state law at that time, live aborted babies were issued birth and death certificates and left out to die in soiled utility rooms. Obama's compassionate compromise was to suggest hospitals create a "Comfort Room" for aborted babies to die in.

Over 50% of black pregnancies end in abortion (Blackgenocide.org). The liberal mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, BET, etc.) and the Democrats relentlessly promote the myth that "white conservative Republicans" are burning the midnight oil thinking of ways to suppress black America. Isn't it ironic that not a white Republican's, but our black Democrat president's abortion policy contributes greatly to black genocide?

Let's talk about gay marriage. Yep, Obama is sympathetic to it. Obama opposed the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman. Obama said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples. He also supports individual states deciding if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

I would also like to tackle the whole "entitlement" thing -- folks believing they have a right to reap the benefits of someone else's labor. Obama is diligently fulfilling his promise to Joe the Plumber to "spread the wealth around." The Bible says that if a man does not work, he should not eat (II Thessalonians 3:6-12).

Yes, the Bible does highly regard giving/charity. But it does not support government confiscating wealth for redistribution in the name of "social justice." That is not what Jesus would do. As a matter of fact, Jesus said, "The poor you will have with you always." Why? Because it is impossible to regulate outcomes in life. Obama skillfully plays the class envy card, getting those who have less to hate those who have more. Then they will gleefully support him brutally taxing the rich SOBs. Obama is exploiting the human tendency to sinfully covet the possessions of others.

Obama also shamelessly plays the race card to get his way -- not directly out of his mouth, but through his minions. The liberal mainstream media and the Democrats are promoting the lie that the millions of whites who voted for Obama and have since become tea-partiers because they reject his big government agenda are suddenly racist. This is an evil and divisive control tactic.

And here is a major kick in the face to Christians. During his presidential campaign, Obama told the world America is not a Christian nation. Now, as president, Obama canceled the 21st annual "National Day of Prayer" ceremony at the White House, which was started by President Truman in 1952. Obama stated his reason as "not wanting to offend anyone."

Now here's the kicker. A National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House, September 25, 2009. As many as 50,000 Muslims attended.

So apparently, Team Obama has no problem offending Christians, but he is extremely sensitive to and even honors Muslims.

My fellow black Christians, these are only a few easy-to-research examples of Obama/Democrat agenda policies which do not line up with Christianity. For those of you who cannot handle the truth, I will keep you in my prayers. It is not my place to judge you. I am simply the messenger. But then, we all know what traditionally happens to messengers. God bless.

Correct data InHisHonor.

But how many choose Obama over God, as that is what this article is stating.

What is a black church?. You either are a christian or not. What does race have to do with it? Do we also have a yellow and a white church?

Are black people so stupid that they cannot distingish voting for a president from worshipping God? So black people do not understand how Obama wants to govern, they just want a black president? No matter what the man has in mind... I think it is offensive!

If you are against the politics of Obama, leave the church out of it. Obama is a president, not a church leader.

There are enough political debates to make your point, but to come forward with this post on the biblical forum....

And by the way, you do not have to be a christian to be against abortion and you do not have to be against christianity to allow moslims their own praying day.

I think the most important information people, including Lloyd Marcus should remember is, that 65 million Americans voted for President Obama. There are not 65 millions Blacks or Latinos in America, SO, wouldn't it also go to say, that had it not been for the 48%+ whites who also voted for Obama, he would not be President.

Also, one must understand that Llyod Marcus doesn't speak for me, and I'm very proud to be an African Amercian registered Republican voter, who didn't even vote for Obama nor McCain, because I didn't find either candidate suitable for the position. Nevertheless, I am most proud of Obama as being the first African/Blakc American President.:yay:

Lloyd Marcus from what I understand, is a Black conservative, and is known as the face of the Amercian tea party and has written their anthem, and is anti-Obama and a racist. So its no wonder the article states mmarcus' agenda. he hates Obama, and its a fact that Obama believes in obortion and other things that do not represent the Christian life-style or Christian beliefs according to what we are taught in acriputres. But these things were known BEFORE he was voted in, yet 65 million Americans voices were heard, and he is now President Obama.

So what's Marcus' point? And what was James' point with the post? My question to James is, are you one of the 46% white Americans who voted for Obama becasue he was Black?

Now a lot of those whites who voted for Obama BECAUSE HE WAS BLACK, would like to see him out... there were more whites who voted for Obama because he is Black, than there were Blacks who vited for him for the same reasons... its all about motives... vote you in, and if you don't attend to our agenda, we will hurriedly get you out!:toomuch:

This whole topic is a MUCH more important thing that my Black brothers and sisters voting for Obama.

It is about the FACT that liberalism is now a quasi-religion, and Christians in America and Europe are now dragging their liberalism into their Christian faith, and letting liberalism CONTROL what they do and believe!!!

I watched Obama debate Alan Keyes on Abortion and although Alan is pro-life, Obama is the most disgusting pro-abortion president we have EVER HAD! I find it SAD AND IRONIC That in America we used to have black folks as slaves and then the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT is against slavery BUT FOR MURDERING THE UNBORN!!!

So, slavery is wrong, but now we just MURDER people if the are inconvenient???

And then we this other phenomenon....The lady who started Planned Parenthood had the main goal in her mind to get rid of black folks, and called them, "Human weeds".

Now, Planned Parenthood builds most of their new Abortion mills in ALL BLACK neighborhoods! And when you go there, you find ALL WHITE Christians protesting in front of them!!

And why? Because Black Christians think that protesting against abortion is a "white Christian thing"!!!

One of the ladies commenting on this thread talked about a "variety of culture issues" concerning black Chrisitans in America. I agree with her. I attend a small church with about 60 people on an average Sunday. We have black folks come by and visit once in a while, but they don't seem to stay, and I am always sad about this, but I understand they might feel more comfortable if at least some of the congregation is black when they come to visit. But I understand this feeling, I just wish we could convinced them to stay.

I know I am focusing on my black brothers and sisters, but I say the same thing about all Christians in America.

Christianity in America is too shallow, and NO ONE who calls themselves a Christian should ever vote Democrat UNLESS that Democrat is PRO-LIFE!!!!

If you call yourself a Christian, you have NO BUSINESS voting for a baby murderer and YOU KNOW IT.

Black Americans have fallen for liberalism and it is a TERRIBLE THING! My prayer is that Black Christians and ALL Christians who are letting liberalism control their actions, would start to learn what America was designed to be, and stop voting for socialism! Social programs are STEALING!

We are supposed to have a SMALL federal government, and black folks in general have fallen for welfare, and it has almost destroyed black culture in America.

If you wish to be wise you need to start listening to and reading black conservatives and IGNORE all the usual liberal race baiters int the media. Jesse Jackson and Sharpton are worthless and a waste of time!! Do this instead:

TWO of the MOST BRILLIANT men in America are black and you should read everything they have written.

1 walter williams, and 2 Thomas Sowell.

Find their articles on the internet and read them. Educate yourself in what America was desgned to be, and educate yourself in what the Bible says about MONEY, and politicians!

IN Psalms it says, "do not put your trust in princes" and during Obama's campaign we had ladies fainting when he spoke!! Ridiculous!!!

And lastly, I would like to say that Liberalism is a type of religion, and if you are a Christian, you should know that NOT ONE BIT of liberalism is Biblical! Conservatism is just principles drawn from Scripture and almost all of it IS Biblical.

In Christ,

James

Ummm...I really am not interested in all this kinda stuff...Ima sorry...I know its important ta you though an I respect yer freedom of choice/perspective/beliefs etc...

But this is kinda speakin fer an about the people you have never met personally...you dont really know what goes on in the minds an hearts of people you've not met in the USA or Europe...So how can you speak for an about them saying what they believe an callin it FACT ? What do you base this Fact on ? And where are ya goin with all of this ?

A Christian should be involved in an concerned with leadin "some one" ta Christ...not what other people say or bout how other people see things...xo

Just wonder, how about conservativism. Seems to me it also became a quasi religion and as well controls what people do and believe. Why is this in liberalism worse, well, it can only be if one is conservative by heart. For me, being closer to liberals (though I don't think I fit into this category from an US pov) I find it disturbing how many conservative dogmas make it into faith...

We gotta be careful on both wings I guess...

In reply

Liberalism, socialism, black people falling for it.... and a white christian praying that black christians and ALL christians would just.... well actually.... vote like he does...

Is it your will that shall be done James or might it be that christians pursue HIS will?

Wrapping abortion in socialism and liberalism and throwing it as a bone to ponder on in the black church, is really not the way to go about.

Abortion is absolutely something to debate about. Why not open a thread about it, then we can leave europe, socialism, liberalism, Obama and whatever else aside and just focus on our responsibility as a christian towards defenseless and unborn life.

It is unbelievable. SirJames, your last post was the single most ignorant, offensive thing that I've read on these forums since I've been here and I've read a LOT of ignorant, offensive posts, especially here in biblical questions.

There is a lot that I can say, but I will only address a couple of things that you said. I don't expect you to respond to me since you never do. I understand, I'm not in the category of 'good n*gg*a' like your Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams.

Your arrogance is astounding and off the charts. You believe and assume that black people just need/want to hear from black leaders so that we will be convinced to come around to your way of thinking (which according to you is the only way for a Christian to think). The only way I will be educated (cause I wasn't before?) is to read the rhetoric of your two educated black recommendations?

Please forgive me if I don't go back to the founding of America for my ideals and politics when your founding fathers almost killed off the Native Americans and stuck a flag in the dirt and declared it 'discovered' and on the same shores brought my people here in chains. I get my standard and rules of living and thinking from the Word and it's principles.

The Word says we shall know them by their fruit. You go back and forth with PhilJo on Calvinism and the Reformed Church but, whatever spirit you are lead by allows you to say that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are 'a waste of time and worthless'. They are two human beings made and fashioned by God. Just because you disagree with what they say doesn't give you the right to say another person is worthless, black, white or otherwise. Where is your love? It is this same ignorance that has men and women walking around in sheets, convinced of their superiority. Again, your arrogance causes the blonde hair on the back of my neck to stand.

I declare you unqualified to speak on my behalf (as a black American) and to speak to me spiritually (as a Christian). And your lack of love has not only NOT convinced me to come around to your way of thinking but, also causes me to question and check my own spirit and thinking on the points in which I agree with you.

I know I may be considered worthless as well because I am a Democrat but, I invite you to my church (is it a "Black Church" cause we don't have out of the 250 any white members? I thought it was tan and hunter green). All are welcome, and even though you won't see anyone that looks like you, I hope you stay.

I also would like to add that having a President that is against abortion doesn't make him/her a good President as we have been witness.

No matter what the President believes or what the law says, our responsibility as believers and the salt of the earth, is to effect the people in our sphere of influence. We are to bring in the harvest and let the Word and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit change people's heart and mind.

What an accomplishment it would be if the law (as it does) allowed abortion but because Christians were about their Father's business, no one went to get one.

When I went to a large country in Asia I did not concern myself with the politics of that country. It did not matter to me who was president, or what color he was, or whether or not he favored abortion. It was not my country. It didn't matter to me that the leader of the country was a baby-killer, that he was not a Christian. It was none of my concern that he was a avid killer and persecutor of Christians, enslaving and imprisoning millions!

I am from another country so, the politics of the country to which I had traveled were irrelevant to my mission as an ambassador of the Kingdom of God.

My citizenship (Gk: politicos) is in HEAVEN, from whence I am looking for the coming of my Savior Jesus (Philippians 3:20). When I was there, in Asia, I taught the people to pray for their leaders, just like Paul said that the people of his day should pray for NERO and honor him as the king. This is the same Nero who used to tie Christians up in little bales, and then dip them in tar/oil and light them on fire to provide night-time illumination for his garden parties. Peter and Paul both said the Christians should HONOR this very ruler.

Seek the KINGDOM of God and fret not thyselves because of evildoers.
