Pixy,

I don't believe there was ever redemption available for angels, whether good or bad, so that wouldn't really be applicable to the will they excercised. In order to rebel against God, one has to have the will to do so. Lucifer chose to rebel; those angels that left their estate and followed him chose to do so as well. I see nowhere where it is implied that Lucifer was forced to express those desires he had to exalt himself above God, nor the angels that followed him.

God Bless!

Jackie

MOG I think they do because like you said, a third made the choice to follow and satan being an angel at one time chose to let pride rise up.

So, yes they have free will.

@SavedInChrist- I didn't mean to imply that angels/fallen angels have ever had redemption available to them! I don't believe that they did/do.

@PJ- I agree that fallen angels made/make willful choices. What I'm saying is that I don't know that the term "free will," with all of its implications, applies to that, for the reason that they are permanently bound in darkness and therefore unable to make choices apart from the realm of darkness. I personally wouldn't classify that as free will... In my opinion, that would be like saying that those in Hell have free will...

But, that's just my 2 cents. Because the Bible does not provide complete details on this issue, none of can do any more than speculate.

And the original question here is whether are not the angels who did not rebel would now be able to do so and fall from their current positions. As I said previously, and as James's comment stated, "all angels were confirmed in their moral state: God preserves the elect/holy angels and will not redeem the evil ones." Based on what I know of Scripture, I believe this to be likely.

i don't know where the confusion is coming from, but if they chose to follow lucifer, then i'd have to believe that they have to will to chose and are not programmable computers. yes they have free will imo.

Pixy , you prove you have the choice to believe as you will, but you also prove the bible to be true as the ability to choose. The Father of the lord Jesus in the bible does not aggree with the theory, some men put this will statement.

Love does not Control

Love does not demand its own way

Love is not pushy

Love does not Demand

Just some more thoughts on this..

In 1 Tim. 5:21 Angels are called "elect Angels".

Since this is so, and considering what else I have learned on this, my theory is that Before the Rebellion Satan, and Angels had free will. Meaning a perfectly free will capable of choosing between Obeying God, or not.

Just like Adam and Eve.

but, at the Rebellion, Satan and one third of the Angles freely chose to rebel against God, and go with Satan. While two thirds freely chose to obey God.

At that time, the Angels, now fallen angels and Satan, were thrown out of heaven, and with no hope of redemption ever.

However, I believe also that the Angels in Heaven, who chose to Obey God, had their natures PERFECTED so that they would NEVER choose to sin.

Just like Christians will have their nature perfected when Christ returns, and will never desire to sin again, the Angels in Heaven already have a perfected nature.

And that IS what we are talking about when we say, "will" because a person, Angel, and even God, will always act according to their nature. Their will is always going to be according to what kind of nature they have.

This is why when people who wish to believe in free will, need to understand that God does not make robots, He CHANGES the NATURE of fallen mankind. When God takes an Angel, or a Man and makes their nature perfect, they no longer have any desire to sin, and they have the desire for holiness.

No force is necessary, because God has changed their very nature!

And since Angels in Heaven, IF they still had a free will, then there would STILL be the possibility of sin in Heaven, so my theory is that God PERFECTED their nature, and so they no longer have a free will, but a will that is enslaved to holiness!

In Christ,

James

I agree with what James said... think that seems to be a likely theory, and one that certainly doesn't go against anything in the Bible.

@PJ- I'm having trouble understanding your comment to me. Could you rephrase?

If a man or women is sent to prison, what changes about how the lord created them?
