Should we avoid the SDA church?
Posted : 24 Apr, 2010 09:22 AM

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17

The Seventh-Day Adventist denomination teaches many doctrines that are contrary to those taught by the Apostles. God's Word commands that we mark them as false teachers and separate from them.

This doesn't mean that all Sabbath keeping churches are wrong. Sabbath is still to be kept and there are churches out there that are teaching wholesome doctrine.

15. Why do my Adventist relatives and friends get so defensive when I talk to them

about where I think they are doctrinally wrong?

Adventists are taught from childhood that they are Gods only true church on earth and that they are Gods remnant people. They are taught that they have the truth and all other Christians are wrong and are apostate. This causes them to have an attitude of spiritual arrogance and pride. They have a very difficult time receiving anything from a Sunday Keeper, as they refer to you. This spiritual pride and arrogance generally leads them to become defensive. Instead of listening to you they retreat into their doctrinal structure and hide. They are insecure in their beliefs and if you get them away from their proof-text method of presenting their doctrines they are lost.

They have been taught that someday those who worship on Sunday will persecute them, hunt them and even kill them. This doesnt help.

Prayerfully begin to share the truth with them.

Calvinism is wrong! Eternal hell is wrong! Let's see you get defensive, lol...I've seen it already...so...don't try to say you don't:goofball:. I get defensive because you basically call me a false stupid heretic for believing differently than you. In fact, that is literally what I've been called on this site. So...what would you do if I call your salvation and intelligence into question? Have I ever? I don't think I have...and if I did I'm sorry. It's one thing to say you believe someones beliefs are wrong....it's another thing entirely to say they are ignorant/stupid and unsaved.

The eternally of hell is an indisputable fact in the Bible to say other wise is all the proof needed.

My answer to the thread question: I could not recommend anyone to a SDA church and I would advise those in to find their way out by seeking the truth objectively.

Obviously you believe you are elect/God's chosen people and that anyone that disagrees with your beliefs is apostate...so...what to say...um...amen...oh yeah...and we do not believe Adventists are the only church. In fact, Adventist's believe that Adventists are a tiny drop in the "God's people" bucket. So far from what I've seen...Adventists seem to be the most tolerant of other people beliefs...because we believe that while we need to witness about our beliefs, it's God's job to call His people out of error in the last days. As long as you believe you're serving God to the best of your knowledge then you're fine. It's the belief, not the knowledge, that saves people. And I'm sure there are some hard core Adventists that take it too far when it comes to "witnessing"...but I don't think that problem is unique to Adventists...

You do not even believe in the same Jesus I do. And it does mater what you believe. It's not oh well you believe the way you want and we are all good, dosent work like that. If you want to follow the teachings and doctrine of the SDA church that is your "free will". We do not believe in the same Jesus. And we can not have fellowship as believers because we do not believe the same.

I believe the eternalfilyumnity of hell is based largely on one parable of Jesus. If you take it all literally then we can see and talk to the unsaved while they're burning, crying out day and night for a drop of water to cool their tongues. I believe the parable was figurative way to say that the Jews/pharisees were no longer in favor with God...God was taking His blessing away from the "rich Jews" and was going to give it to the "poor gentiles". Basically placing the Jews in disfavor and giving their blessing to people the Jews loathed. As far as the eternal hell thing goes...there is too much in the bible that says "the dead know nothing", "David is not ascended to heaven", "the wicked will be destroyed", "the wicked will be ashes under your feet", "fire came down from heaven and consumed them", "it will be like Sodom and Gomorrah", "the wages for sin is death". Your views give the wicked and the saved the same reward, one is just hotter than the other. If you're alive and suffering in hell for eternity then you have eternal life. If hell is a separation from God....can there be life apart from God? Death is the eternal and everlasting punishment...not life in hell.

John 3:36"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

1 John 3:15"Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."

Part of your belief hinges on the immortality of the soul as well.

1 Cor 15:53"For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality."

1 Tim 6:15-16"He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality"

-----------------------------

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10 The dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. ... For there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave.

John 5:28, 29 All that are in the grave shall hear his voice, And shall come forth.

Acts 2:34 . For David is not ascended into the heavens.

Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

Ezekiel 18:4 . The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

1 Corinthians 15:51-53 . We shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, ... and this mortal must put on immortality.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

John 11:11, 14 . Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; ... Lazarus is dead.

Matthew 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose.

2 Samuel 7:12 Thou shalt sleep with thy fathers.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 Them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

2 Peter 2:6 . And turning the cities of sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly.

John 12:48 . The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to ... reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.

Matthew 13:40-42 So shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather ... them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire.

John 5:28, 29 . The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the dead shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; ... they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Job 21:30, 32 The wicked is reserved to the day of destruction. ... Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

Psalms 37:10, 20 . For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be. ... But the wicked shall perish, ... into smoke shall they consume away.

Malachi 4:1, 3 The day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; ... and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up. ... And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet.

Revelation 20:9 . They went up on the breadth of the city, and compassed the camp of the saints about, ... and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

2 Peter 3:10 The elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Isaiah 47:14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

Matthew 10:28 Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Anyway...I believe Jesus died for my sins...which Jesus do you believe in? Here's a REALLY LONG post from awhile ago about about the SDA church if anybody has several days to spare.

If I said I know Mark (if that is your name) from Galion Ohio the Computer Technician. He is a short fat Mexican with long blond hair. You would go that ain't me at all. I'd say bingo! The Jesus you describe and the Jesus I know from the Bible are as radically different has you being a short fat Mexican with long blond hair. You can claim that your Jesus died for you but unless you have the right Jesus you do not have you sins forgiven. And Jesus is not and never ever was Michael the arch angel...NEVER! And if you believe that you are a heretic plan and simple.

@Darryl

The art of rebuking...

What has been achieved?

Did we shed light?

Did we open eyes?

Did we save someone?

Have we done a good job?

Why do we treat people who are, in our opinion so wrong, like this?
