Testimony Part 2

As I lay there, feeling the warmth and comfort of Gods love envelope me with a peace that is beyond understanding, all my questions started to be answered. He showed me that it is more than a Gospel of grace, it is a gospel of True Love. That we can do anything, make any mistake, but if done out of love, it will not be held against us. He showed me how He had spent the last 6,000 years trying to lead us back to the innocence of the garden, when we could commune with Him. He showed me the importance of the genealogies in the Bible, and why we should pay attention to them. Everything fell into place, everything but mans teachings. Once I could lay aside what I had been taught, everything was simple.

One of the things I had been questioning was, why did God bother to act at the tower of Babel? If you walked in the door at home and your young child told you they were building a tower to heaven, you would smile at the innocence and walk on. God did not. And why change the languages? One thing I did know, God didnt do anything without a reason. Why not just smash them if He were that upset, why confuse all their languages? Then I saw why.

1 Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. 3 Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. 4 And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." 5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 And the Lord said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. Genesis 11 NKJV

I noticed in verse 6 for the first time why God acted. It is explained in Gen. 1:26 NKJV Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Like most, I was taught that Satan took this from us at the garden, but once again God showed me this was not possible. Romans 11:29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. So, God could not take back dominion, but He could take away our language. Then I started thinking about it. Adam and Eve were born adults, not children. They did not have to be taught a language, it was embedded in their DNA, if you will.

Then I tried to find out why dominion could be so important as to require an act of God. I found this in Revelation 17:12-18 NKJV 12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful." 15 Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."

In verse 13, we see that the authority of the 10 kings, in unity. That could only be dominion. We also see that Jesus overcomes him in 14 with the help of His chosen ones.

We read the prophesy of this happening in Zeph. 3:9 NKJV 9 "For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, That they all may call on the name of the Lord, To serve Him with one accord.

To restore is to give back something that someone had at some point, but does not have now.

Finally, we come to the day of Pentecost. It is estimated that there were 5,000 people there, speaking 65 different dialects of 17 languages. If you had 120 people, all talking at the same time, speaking all the different dialects, what are the odds that you not only would be beside the one speaking yours, but would also not be confused by all those others yelling in different languages? It makes more sense that it was all one language, but since they didnt have to interpret it in their heads, they assumed it was their native language.

Now this has nothing to do with the gift of tongues or prayer tongues. Those are two separate subjects.

Love and grace,

Leon
