Quiznos View Profile History	Why do people usethe word 'PRODIGAL' for the younger son in Luke 15 verses 11- 32 Posted : 26 Sep, 2022 04:13 PM Hello everyone: In the parable recorded by Luke chapter 15 verses 11-32, the word 'PRODIGAL' is not mentioned,not once. Since the word is not mentioned, not even once, then why is that title laid upon the younger son. The younger son spent a few dollars, yet he knew what type of man his father was,yet the older brother wasted his life because he never knew what type of man his father was, even though he spent more with his father than his younger brother. The younger brother only wasted money, which can be replaced, but the older brother wasted his life, and time under the watchful eye of his father. The younger brother had a relationship with his father, but the older brother never had a real relationship with his father. Here we have two sons under the same roof with the same father. The younger knew his father,what he was like, his character, attitude and personality, but the older son had no idea who his father was,or what his father was like. So then, which son wasted that which is more valueable, the younger son who wasted a few dollars, or the older son who wasted his relationship with his dad. Post Reply

You’ve completely missed the repentance of the real prodigal son. That means when the younger son repented and was forgiven he received the ring and was restored as a son. Quiz, this isn’t physics. Quiz, to everyone else, the prodigal son parable is easy to understand but we realize there is always at least one person who doesn’t >>want to<< get it! That’s because this person doesn’t want to bother with the original meaning of a passage but instead invents his own preconceived false notions and forces them into the text. Please stop trying to top load the parable with your own false ideas, just receive it the way Jesus intended. If you can’t understand the son saying he is “no longer worthy to be called a son”, then you’ve probably blown a few fuses trying to understand the father saying his son “was dead”. Post Reply
