PLOW IN HOPE
“Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.” -1 Cor. 9:10
In commenting on this passage, Calvin wrote, “It is an unjust thing that the husbandman should lay out his pains to no purpose in plowing and thrashing, but that the end of his labour is the hope of receiving the fruits. As it is so, we may infer that this belongs to oxen also, but Paul’s intention was to extend it farther, and apply it principally to men. Now, the husbandman is said to be a partaker of his hope when he enjoys the produce which he has obtained when reaping, but hoped for when plowing.”
Clearly, a man ought to enjoy the fruit of his labor. A man ought to taste that object of his hope by which he derived the strength to labor. The Law of God states this plainly in Deuteronomy 20:5-7.
A man plows in hope. A man buys a field in hope. A man takes a wife in hope, and it is good and right that the the man should enjoy the object of his hope. He should not be prevented from doing so. A man labors in the hope of a consummation of his labor.
Jesus says we must not fear the world, for He has overcome it. He says all authority in heaven and earth are His. Therefore, we go forth on the Great Commission mission. That is that hope under which we labor, that Jesus has overcome the world!

Correction - Isn't it interesting Adam that David ALWAYS QUACKS about others taking Scripture out of CONTEXT when obviously he leaves out the TRUE understanding of chapter 5 WITH that of Romans chapter 6 -in other places on the forum in the past!
For sadly it looks like rsvp does the same here now? YICKS!

rsvp seems to imply we keep 'PLOWING' in sin daily???
But then thankfully he corrects himself and posts - 'Jesus says we must not fear the world, >>>for He has overcome it.<<< (As our example of how we can overcome sin!) He says all authority in heaven and earth are His. >>>Therefore, we go forth on the Great Commission mission.<<< (of sinlessness! ) That is that hope under which >>>we labor,<<< (daily!) that Jesus has overcome the world! Flat Earth Teddy I wouldn’t have to quack about verses being taken outa context since you and Adam keep playing Santa Clause and gift me with a bag full of outa context examples🎅😂‼️
RSVP and me teach that we still have a sin nature that must be controlled by prayer and denied daily until the day we die physically.
BUT THEN, speaking of your gifting us with real examples to prove our point:
You and Adam show up with your posts chock full of the sin of bearing false witness thus proving that both you and Adam’s sin nature’s are at work, alive and well!!
THANKS Flat Teddy for happily volunteering live examples of your own sin in action right here on the forum proving our point!
But seriously, at some point, you guys really need to stop thinking of yourselves as sinless and perfect and start confessing your sins and repent
At least examine the Lord’s model prayer:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours. Now and for ever Amen

The godly will pray to God in a time when He may be found:
Psalm 32:6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
Jesus taught the disciples to pray, as the Son was not in them yet as Jesus was not glorified yet:
John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
David said examine the Lords prayer, of course we will, and the words are in Matthew 6:10,,
1 for the Lords Kingdom to come,
2. for Gods will to be done in earth as in Heaven..
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Addressing point number 1, the Lord shows the Apostles would not die until the Kingdom of God came with POWER, then the Apostles were given power in them, the SPIRIT, after Christ was glorified:
Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Point number 2, in the Lords prayer, for Gods will to be done in earth as in Heaven, we know after Christ is risen the Holy Spirit is given, we know those born of God from that time do not do the will of man, but the will of God ( thy will now being done in earth as in Heaven ) we also know the Lord hears not sinners, but those who do His will ( who received the Spirit to be born of God after Christ is risen which is His Kingdom that came for those it is in ) and we also know, WHOSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD SINNETH NOT AS THE WICKED ONE TOUCHES THEM NOT..
John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

No longer our will, now Gods will, we did the will of lust in the past, and they call it strange you do not continue to not cease sin as them:

They do not mind receiving the reward of unrighteousness, the wages of sin that are death, as they mock the Lords testimony and state their way of not ceasing from sin is true, as they ar unstable souls, with covetous practises, and have forsaken the right sway as their words confirm
2 Peter 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
