I will be celebrating Christmas how about you?Posted : 9 Dec, 2020 03:25 PMI agree with Marcouse and Quiznos, especially about the Santa distraction and in addition to that, the crass materialism. But despite all the devilish distractions I think we can still use the time to turn people’s attention to the reality of Jesus. That might take some work, especially in this expanding humanistic materialistic culture |

I will be celebrating Christmas how about you?Posted : 10 Dec, 2020 09:52 AMPlenty of theologians have all but proved from scripture that Jesus was not born on 25th December around the solstice. September is more than likely the time of that event. |

I will be celebrating Christmas how about you?Posted : 10 Dec, 2020 10:53 AMBells, candles, holly, and yuletide/yule decorations are mentioned in the history of pagan worship, but the use of such in one’s home certainly does not indicate a return to paganism. While there are definitely pagan roots to some traditions, there are many more traditions associated with the true meaning of Christmas—the birth of the Savior of the world in Bethlehem. Bells are played to ring out the joyous news, candles are lit to remind us that Christ is the Light of the world (John 1:4-9), a star is placed on the top of a Christmas tree to remember the Star of Bethlehem, and gifts are exchanged to remind us of the gifts of the Magi to Jesus, the greatest gift of God to mankind. |

I will be celebrating Christmas how about you?Posted : 10 Dec, 2020 03:23 PMEver celebrate your birthday? .........The Bible does mention two individuals celebrating birthdays: the Egyptian Pharaoh in Joseph’s time (Genesis 40:20) and King Herod in Jesus’ time (Matthew 14:6; Mark 6:21). Some point to these references as evidence that celebrating birthdays is wrong; since both men were non-believing individuals, their birthday celebrations are seen as some form of pagan ritual. However, that conclusion is not readily drawn from either passage........ The Bible does not even hint that it was wrong for Pharaoh or Herod to celebrate his birthday. Neither does Scripture anywhere discourage a Christian from celebrating a birthday |
