Silly People Think Christianity Taught the Earth was Flat

Lots of silly people (atheists) teach and write textbooks claiming that “the church” or that all Christianity believed in a flat earth. But this false theory lacks historic evidence. It’s true a few pockets of Christians believed in a flat earth just like gullible Christians today believe evolution old earth doctrine and death before the sin of Adam, but that doesn’t prove that all Christians were equally deceived.

A little off topic but then again when have I not been???

Here is a cool flat earth model for the bending of rays and why it appears the sun goes up and down.

The best model I have seen so far.

Parrotban...

Sorry, cant get your name right..I am dyslexic.

There was a time we all believed in the globe model. Do you remember ?

Surely you are not that old.

David is taking baby steps to research something new to him. Where is the grace? So he worded his thread in an irritating way. It ruffled some feathers. Yes, mine too.

BUT it takes time for new ideas to fix in a person's mind.

I see you had your platform for revenge. Now be a good boy and go eat some scooby snacks.

Isaiah Says that the Earth is **CIRCULAR**

Isaiah was inspired by God to say in Isaiah 40:21-22:

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the **CIRCLE OF THE EARTH**, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy!!

So Isaiah clearly calls the Earth a “circle.” This clearly shows that he had a round idea of the Earth. This is interesting for a couple of reasons:

1.First of all, he says God sits above the **CIRCLE OF THE EARTH**. Circle can mean “spherical, round, etc.” So he is clearly calling it something **ROUND**.

2.Secondly, this blows away the arguments by the skeptics that the Prophets thought the Earth has “corners.” Hint: A circle doesn’t have a corner. Therefore, why would a man well versed in the scriptures of God call the Earth a circle if he believed it to be a flat cornered piece of land? He wouldn’t! So obviously he believed the **EARTH WAS CIRCULAR** in nature.

Isaiah oddly uses the term **CIRCLE**, and it is odd that anyone would describe the earth that way unless they actually supposed it was **CIRCULAR** in nature.

There have been thousands of pictures of the earth from outer space and every picture shows a **CIRCULAR ROUND EARTH**!!

Every intelligent person knows that you travel **WEST** by plane from New York City to New Delhi India with a stop over in Tokyo and you can **ALSO** travel **EAST** by plane from New York City to New Delhi India with a stop over in Tel Aviv Israel.! This of course would be impossible if the earth was flat and only possible if the **EARTH WAS CIRCULAR**!!

Before anyone else asks.....

Antarctica is restricted just like Area 51. You won't find evidence there of the ends of the earth. No, you won't fall off because our world is enclosed with a dome like a snowglobe. No outer space, E.T's like the Catholic church wants to suggest with Pope Francis saying he would baptize aliens!

Is this insane or what?? https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/pope-francis-says-he-would-baptise-aliens-9360632.html

Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope. The 1.8 meter Alice P. Lennon Telescope and its Thomas J. Bannan Astrophysics Facility, known together as the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT), is a Gregorian telescope observing in the optical and infrared situated on Mount Graham in southeast Arizona, United States.

LUCI (originally LUCIFER: Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Spectroscopic Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research) is the near-infrared instrument for the LBT.[20][21] The name of the instrument was changed to LUCI in 2012.

Just look what happens when I turn my back and leave the classroom for just one minute!

You kids should be ashamed of yourselves!

I have one kid trying to look exactly like prophetic but sounds like one of my dear flat earth kids that suddenly disappeared and I'm worried sick he probably got too close to the edge of earth and fell off—again. I keep telling them guys to WATCH YOUR STEP AROUND THE EDGE OF THE EARTH!!

Then there’s a new kid who joined the class but missed my lesson on figures of speech in the Bible!! Young man, just for that, I’m setting you back a couple grades! Plus your assignment due tomorrow is to write the following 100 times: “I will learn the difference between figures of speech in the Bible”

And you young lady!! Shame on you! And I thought you woulda kept everyone in line while I was out! Go sit in the corner until you get me those catholic sources to back up your stories!!

I should make ya all stay after school but I want to watch the Flat Earth Soap Opera tonight—so you kids are lucky. :raised_hands:

The Flat Earth soap opera is a spin off from As The World Turns soap opera.

Yes, I said “spin off”.

WOW David!...

YOU are full of surprises!

Didn't know you had it in you!

Your quotes:

I have one kid trying to look exactly like prophetic but sounds like one of my dear flat earth kids that suddenly disappeared and I'm worried sick he probably got too close to the edge of earth and fell off—again. I keep telling them guys to WATCH YOUR STEP AROUND THE EDGE OF THE EARTH!!

Yes, Dave, even the soap opera that my grandmother watched is propaganda!

They even showed a spinning earth!!

Ya, I found it. Youtube has about anything.

Glad you are not sore.

Sinslayer7, your gift of listing biblical citations is only exceeded by your colorful eisegesis.

But I think a short lesson on the figures of speech that are used in the Bible might afford you the opportunity of allowing God to speak for himself.

Or better yet, even a short course (or book) on biblical interpretation would cover figures of speech and other helpful hints as well.

May I suggest a couple of books:

Basic Biblical Interpretation. by Roy Zuck

Or

How to Interpret the Bible for yourself, by Richard Mayhue
