Jesus was asked by his disciples in Matthew 24, the famous passage that has led to countless debates.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Something for Sadlup to ponder. In matthew 24:20 it says :
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
He said to pray that your flight not be on the sabbath ..I think it's because the city gates were closed then and he wanted people to be able to get out of the city and flee. I always ask. Who is Jesus addressing? , culture slang, the time period they lived in. Who was ruler or king...etc..Yeah, SDA's love to quote that one about the sabbath.
Back to the Temple...A simple question...
What age did the temple that Jesus spoke about represent?
Did it represent the Mosaic age where the physical Law of Torah and scrolls were kept in a physical temple? Does it represent the Christian age where Gods laws are written on our hearts ..yes he circumsized our hearts also. Romans 2:29 Yes, I am spiritualizing here.
It represents the Mosaic age of course! Emperor Nero dispatched an army under the generalship of Vespasian 70 A.D. They destroyed both the city and it's temple. Josephus expounded on it in his writings.
This age that Jesus spoke about of Moses, the law and the prophets came to an end and the age to come was of messiah, the new covenant that never ends.
Here is another thing to ponder Sadlup...
You may know more about this that me but here is my conclusion...
Bear with me..
God the Father ,mentioned in the old testament had two kingdoms. The house of Israel and the House of Judah. God divorced one kingdom because they eventually committed adultery and they went into captivity to the Babylonians.
Ezekiel 37:22 “And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.”
Jesus said:
Matthew 15:24 King James Version (KJV)
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
...God divorced them and they were considered unclean. Gentiles. He loved them so much that he wanted them back but would not break his own law, so he could not remarry them. So he sent his son into the world to join the 2 sticks back together that were broken, representing the two kingdoms. A full restoration! No longer separated by God since the garden of Eden . Jesus is the bridge to the Father. Jesus made a second exodus much like the first. He made a way out of sin and death. God TABERNACLES with us!! 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Did you catch that? ...Tabernacles.
The Tabernacle was to be a place where God’s glory would be revealed.
The plan was simple, functional, yet filled with prophetic promise.
It was a replica of heavenly and spiritual realities.
The Tabernacle was a foreshadow of Christ.
God even instructed Moses to anoint it with oil.
It is significant that the name “Christ” means “the anointed One.”
God was making a profound promise, “I will provide redemption through my anointed one.”
God did keep His promise to tabernacle with His people.
In John in 1:14 it says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt [pitched His tent or tabernacled] among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
Jesus is Immanuel or God with us. (Matthew 1:23)
The Bronze Water Laver reminds worshipers they must be cleansed before the approach a Holy God. (Exodus 30:18-21; 1 Corinthians 10:1-2)
After the shedding of blood it was necessary that one be ceremonially cleansed, so they could serve as priests.
The Bronze water basin foreshadowed our cleansing from sin through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
Water baptism represents our identity with Christ. (1 Corinthians 10:1-2)
In Titus 3:4-7 it says, “But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
I also found a curious reference in John 7:37-39.
Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Then in John 19:34-35 there is this strange observation—
“One of the soldiers pierced Christ’s side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.”
At the Bronze Altar there was blood to atone and at the Bronze basin water to regenerate and cleanse defiled sinners.
An explanation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, using the pattern and furniture of the Tabernacle. (Colossians 1:19-20)
I want to begin in the Holy of Holies.
The Triune God, in His heavenly glory, sent the Son to earth.
He set aside His eternal glory, in obedience to His Father, to take upon Himself the form of a man. (Philippians 2:6-8)
When He arose from His throne to enter the earth, he was answering the prayers of His enslaved people.
He came to earth as the light and life of man.
It pleased the Father for the fullness of deity to dwell in Him. (Colossians 1:19-22)
At the age of thirty He began His ministry with baptism.
For the joy that was set before Him Christ endured the cross. (Hebrews 12:2)
He was like a lamb led to slaughter. (Isaiah 53:7)
He willingly offered up His life as a sacrifice for our sin.
There won't be a third physical temple built. Although news sources have been saying otherwise for years! Jesus came back in 70 A.D. in judgement. You can't separate the second coming at 70 A.D with the resurrection or wedding supper of the lamb (consummation)
Jesus fulfilled everything. God kept his word.
The world won't blow up as some surmise. Things are done on earth as they are in heaven . New covenant, new earth. Not a literal destroyed one .(I thought I would address this here in case someone was already asking) There are animals in the book of revelation and nations and people after the earth was destroyed.
I could get into some language of revelation with the stars falling, blood moons, etc. to show you that it represents commotions and changes in the heavens but I think I wrote a novel!
**THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS IS **FAITH** EXPRESSING ITSELF THROUGH LOVE**!!{Galatians 5:6}
Acts 26:17,18: Jesus said to Paul, "I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are **SANCTIFIED BY FAITH**!"
Romans 1:17: For in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is **BY FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST**!!
Romans 3:23-25: For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood--to be received **BY FAITH**!!
Romans 3:27,28: Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? **NO**, because of the law that **REQUIRES FAITH**! For we maintain that a person is **JUSTIFIED BY FAITH** apart from the works of the law!!
Romans 5:1,2: Therefore, since we have been **JUSTIFIED THOUGH FAITH**, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access **BY FAITH** into this grace in which we now stand!!
Romans 10:5-9: Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: "The person who does these things will live by them." {Lev 18:5} But the righteousness that comes **BY FAITH** says...The word is near you: it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the message concerning **FAITH** that we proclaim: IF you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your **FAITH** and are saved!!
Romans 12:3: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the **FAITH** God has distributed to each of you!!
Romans 14:23: Everything that does not come **FROM FAITH** is sin!!
2 Corinthians 1:24: We work with you for your joy, because it is **BY FAITH** you stand firm!!
2 Corinthians 5:6-10: We are always confident and know that as long as we are at home with the body we are away from the Lord. For we live **BY FAITH**, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please Him... For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad!!
Galatians 2:16: We know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but **BY FAITH** in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our **FAITH** in Christ Jesus that we may be **JUSTIFIED BY FAITH** in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law **NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED**!!
Galatians 3:23-26: Before the coming of this **FAITH**, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the **FAITH** that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be **JUSTIFIED BY FAITH**. Now that this **FAITH** has come we are **NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVION OF THE LAW**. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God **THROUGH FAITH**!!
Galatians 5:5,6: For through the Spirit we eagerly await **BY FAITH** the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is **FAITH** expressing itself through **LOVE**!!
Ephesians 2:8-10: For it is by grace you have been saved, **THROUGH FAITH**--and this is not from yourselves, it is the **GIFT** of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do!!
Ephesians 3:16,17: I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts **THROUGH FAITH**!!
I Thessalonians 1:3: We remember before our God and Father you work produced **BY FAITH**!!
2 Thessalonians 1:3,4: We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your **FAITH** is growing **MORE AND MORE**....Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and **FAITH** in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring!!
2 Thessalonians 1:11: We constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed **PROMPTED BY FAITH**!!
I Timothy 1:3,4: Command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer... Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work--which is **BY FAITH**!!
2 Timothy 3:14,15: Continue in what you have learned and become convinced of...and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation **THROUGH FAITH** in Christ Jesus!!
Hebrews 11:1,3,6: So **FAITH** is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see...**BY FAITH** we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, in that what is seen was not made out of what was visible... Without **FAITH** it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He **REWARDS** those who earnestly seek Him!!
Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, “The Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels and **THEN** He will **REWARD** each person according to what he has done!”
Hebrews 12:1,2: Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Pioneer and Perfecter of our **FAITH**!!
**THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS IS FAITH EXPRESSING ITSELF THROUGH ***LOVE***!!{Galatians 5:6}
**THE FATHER LOVES HIS FAITHUL SAINTS JUST AS MUCH AS HE LOVES JESUS**
John 17:23: Jesus says to His Father, "You sent Me and have **LOVED THEM** even as you **LOVED** Me!!"
**JESUS LOVES HIS FAITHFUL SAINTS **JUST AS MUCH** AS THE FATHER LOVES HIM**!!
John 15:9,10" Jesus says, "As the Father **LOVED** Me, so I have **LOVED** you!! Now remain in My **LOVE . **IF** you obey My commands, you will remain in My **LOVE**, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in His **LOVE** !"
John 14:21,23: Jesus says, "Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who **LOVES** Me! He who loves Me will be **LOVED** by My Father, and I will **LOVE** him....If anyone **LOVES** Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will **LOVE** him, and we will come to him and make Our home with him!!"
I John 3:18: Dear children, let us not **LOVE** with words or tongue but with actions and in truth!
WHAT'S **LOVE** GOT TO DO WITH IT??
I Peter 1:22: "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere **LOVE** for your brothers, **LOVE** one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again... through the living and enduring Word of God!
I Peter 4:8: **ABOVE ALL**, **LOVE** each other **DEEPLY**, because **LOVE** covers over a multitude of sins!
I Corinthians 13:2,4-8: If I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not **LOVE** I am nothing...**LOVE** is patient, **LOVE** is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. **LOVE** does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. **LOVE** never fails!!"
John 13:34: Jesus says, "A NEW command I give you: **LOVE* one another As I have **LOVED** you, so you must **LOVE** one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples." John 15:12,13: Jesus says, "My command is this: **LOVE** each other as I have **LOVED** you. Greater **LOVE** has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
I John 3:16: This how we know what **LOVE** is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers!
Ephesians 5:1,2: Be **IMITATORS OF GOD**, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of **LOVE**, just as Christ **LOVED** us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God!
Luke 6:27,28,35,36: Jesus says, "**LOVE** your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. **LOVE** your enemies, do good to them. and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your **REWARD** will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful!"
Matthew 28:19.20” Jesus commands, “Go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to *OBEY EVERYTHING* I have commanded you!” {See I John 2:3-5}
EVERYTHING would also include all the other commands in God's inspired Word from Acts to Revelation as per 2 Timothy 3:16: 4:2: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work...Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction."
If we really **LOVE** our brothers and sister in Christ we will lovingly teach them to obey all the approximately 400 commands of the NT with **LOVE** in the hope of countless eternal rewards when Jesus comes with great power with all His angels.
Revelation 22:112: Jesus says,"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!?
Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and **THEN** He will **REWARD** each person according to what he has done."
Ephesians 4:15: "Speaking the Truth in **LOVE** , we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ! From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in **LOVE** , as each part does its work."
Ephesians 3:17-19: "I pray that you, being rooted and established in **LOVE** may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the **LOVE** of Christ, and to know this **LOVE** that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God!!"
I John 4:7-12: Dear friends, let us **LOVE** one another, for **LOVE** comes from God. Everyone who **LOVES** has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not **LOVE** does not know God, because God is **LOVE**. This is how God showed His **LOVE**among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is **LOVE**, not that we **LOVED** God, but that He **LOVED** us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so **LOVED** us, we ought to **LOVE** one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we **LOVE** one another, God lives in us and His **LOVE** is made complete in us!
Romans 8:35,37-39: Who shall separate us from the **LOVE** of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?...We are more than conquerors through Him who **LOVED** us! For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the **LOVE** of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!!
I can't let this one go. You mentioned that they are yet to be fulfilled.
Think about it..
Fall Feasts:
4) Trumpets (Yom Teru'ah)
Jesus Returns -He returned to earth and showed himself to many. Mary was the first to see him. Eventually so did doubting Thomas.
5) Atonement (Yom Kippur)
Jews Repent-conversion of Israel , look on him who they have pierced. Peter said, Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. He said you have killed your messiah. Acts 2
('They will weep over him like an only born son')
6) Tabernacles (Sukkot)
God dwelling with man- Immanuel means God with us. The name of Jesus.
(New Jerusalem comes down- Heavenly city) Abraham looked for a heavenly country and was a stranger and pilgrim on the earth. God has made that spiritual city above (the New Jerusalem) which Paul calls "the mother of us all" because the Sinai Jerusalem is in bondage with her children (Galatians 4). The letter to the Hebrews says, "The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing" (9:8) It also says that Jesus is made way (is our way) into the holiest place. The letter says that He is in the very presence of God for us. Jesus says, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:2,3).
You believe the last three Festivals are yet to be fulfilled by Jesus. You believe Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot are yet in the future. The implications of this belief would suggest:
1)There are no saints "in Christ" yet in heaven. Abraham, the patriarchs, the apostles, and all the dead "in Christ" are awaiting their entrance into the heavenly kingdom. The captives have not been set free.
2)There has been no atonement. The atoning blood of Jesus Christ has yet to do its work. Redemption is not complete. The letter to the Hebrews is wrong, and the veil has not yet been rent.
3)The Spirit of the living God does not yet dwell in men. Jeremiah 31 has not yet happened. Paul was wrong when he said that saved men are the tabernacle of the Holy Ghost, and Peter was wrong when he said we are being built up a Spiritual house. John was wrong when he said, "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." God does not yet tabernacle with man.
I believe the captives have been set free, the dead "in Christ" are in heaven, and those of us believeth on to Jesus have already passed from death to life, and we have been raised up and seated with Christ in God’s heaven. God’s promise in Jeremiah has come to pass and God tabernacles with men. I highly suspect that you believe these things as well, but maybe not. My question is, "How much more "cross" do we need?"
Is it meaningful that the N.T. is written in Greek, the accepted world language at the time, rather than Hebrew?
I have heard it said that Jesus is our Torah, and I have no problem with that, but I am bombarded with ‘Torah is Jesus’ and therefore we enter into a study of the law of Moses, and the rabbinical writings, and things of the Old Covenant. Although there is some spirituality mixed and woven throughout, for the most part, it becomes a study of "tradition" and things written on tablets rather than the heart. Ironically it is the "orthodox" Jews that miss Yeshua as Messiah. Things have not changed that much.
To think we continue to wait for atonement of sin and to be in the presence and tabernacle with God is simply not Biblical.
You got a lot of cleaning up there since the 10 days of Awe are around the corner. According to tradition, God will decide if your name is in the book of life and if you will live or die another year. You have alot of amends to make , including getting in Parrot's good graces. I don't follow the feast days anymore. But somehow , I don't worry if my name is in the book of life. I rest in Jesus.
Galatians 3:25: **WE ARE NO LONGER UDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAW**!!!
Galatians 4:9,10: How is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!!
Colossians 2:16,17: Do dot let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard a **SPECIAL FESTIVAL**, a New Moon celebration or a **SABBATH DAY**! These are a **SHADOW** of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found **IN CHRIST**!!
In the New Testament **EVERY DAY** is the **LORD'S DAY** especially **TODAY**!!
Acts 2:44-46: All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to everyone who had need. **EVERY DAY** they continued to meet together!!
Hebrews 3:12,13: See to it brothers and sisters that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But **ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER **DAILY**, as long as it is called **TODAY** so that none of you may be hardened by sins deceitfulness!
Paul makes it crystal clear . Thanks Parrot. It bears repeating. Sometimes, it takes a while to sink in....it did for me.!!
Galatians 4:9,10: How is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!!

**SAD**lup makes the ridiculous claim that God's Word in the New Testament was not known by the Christian churches until AD 300???
Luke 21:5-7: 20-24: {In AD 33} Some of His disciples were remarking about how the Temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, "As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down!" "Teacher," they asked, "When will these things happen? And what will be the sign they are about to take place?".... Jesus said, "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by {Roman} armies, you will know that its desolation is near.{In AD 70} Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment to all that has been written {See Daniel 9:26}. How dreadful it will be in those days.. There will be great distressin the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to the nations. {In AD 70} Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. {This prophecy was fulfilled almost 1900 years later when the Jews finally took over East Jerusalem on May 14th, 1948 and West Jerusalem from the Gentiles on June 7th, AD 67!
Now hear Jesus is warning His followers of the coming destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem which took place in AD 70. Therefore this book of the Bible must have been written and known about by Christians in Jerusalem in Ad 70.
However, *SAD*lup makes the ridiculous claim that God's Word in the New Testament was not known until AD 300. However, Almost the entire New Testament was quoted by Christian writers by AD 150!! And almost all the Christian churches had all the books of the New Testament except revelation by AD 70. 26 of the 27 books of the Bible were inspired by God and written between AD 42 and AD 65!!!
Actually the New Testament books except Revelation were all completed by AD 65 and distributed to most of the churches by AD 70 and there was no more need of temple sacrifices since Jesus put an end to all temple symbolic animal sacrifices by His Blood sacrifice for our atonement for sins. And Jesus had eliminated almost all of the OT laws except for 9 of the 10 commandments.
**WE ARE NO LONGER UDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAW** Galatians 3:25
Galatians 4:9,10: How is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!!
Colossians 2:16,17: Do dot let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard a special festival, a New Moon celebration or a **SABBATH DAY**!
John 16:12-14: Jesus says, "I have much more to say to you more than you can now bear. But when he, the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that he will receive what he will make known to me.
So the holy spirit inspired all the writers of the New Testament to write what Jesus told them to write by AD 65 except for Revelation.
So the New Covenant was distributed to most of the Christian churches by AD 70 and completely eliminated the need of the Old Testament Covenant except for 9 of the 10 commandments.
Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, "**ALL AUTHORITY** in heaven and on earth has been given to **ME**!. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.... Teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU** {The entire New Testament except for Revelation by AD 70} ! And surely I am with you always , to the very end of the age!"
"Paul makes it crystal clear . Thanks Parrot. It bears repeating. Sometimes, it takes a while to sink in....it did for me.!!"
"Galatians 4:9,10: How is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!!"
Careful KJVonly! Be a Berean about the study of the Word! Would Paul actually call the TORAH a "weak and miserable principle" that was given (and progressed) since Creation of this young earth? REALLY? The Torah is"weak" in teachings and "miserble" to understand its "principles" in intructions??? Really???
Big question here! If Paul was talking about the Commandment Law, then please show me (since I was born in Missouri) in The Bible, even your KJV, where it says there was ever a month (moonth) long festival!
Ahhhh but I can show you a PAGAN festival that was month long! Its kept yet today but ONLY one day now in the middle of THAT month. The cult feast of Valentines day!
"Colossians 2:16,17: Do dot let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard a **SPECIAL FESTIVAL**, a New Moon celebration or a **SABBATH DAY**! These are a **SHADOW** of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found **IN CHRIST**!!"
Is NOT Paul saying to JUST NOT let someone or anyone judge you by how you keep the weekly or annual festival Sabbaths? I'm not seeing he is making changes nor teaching disregard of Torah. Paul was a faithful Torah keeper, he was Jewish!
So at this point for me, I don't think the assigned to this forum - Jesuit Parrot, and his misinterpretation of Scripture merits repeating.
Lol.
So how clear is it now KJVonly. perhaps a second look and study?
**WE ARE NO LONGER UDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAW** Galatians 3:25!
Exodus 31:14-16: Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do **ANY WORK** on that day must be **CUT OFF** from their people... Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath day is to be put to death!
Exodus 35:2,3; Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath must be put to death. Do not **LIGHT A FIRE** in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.
This was possible in Israel since it is about the same latitude of warm South Carolina. But anyone in the frigid parts of the earth must freeze to death in the winter since electricity would not be invented until over 2,000 years after this commandment was given!!
Matthew 12:1-12: Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, the said to Him, "Look your disciples are doing what is **UNLAWFUL ON THE SABBATH**. Jesus answered, "Haven't you heard of what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread--which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests... If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is **LORD OF THE SABBATH**!" Going from that place, Jesus went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to being charges against Jesus, they asked Him, "IS IT LAWFUL TO HEAL ON THE SABBATH?" Jesus said to the, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath?" Jesus said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? Therefore it is lawful to do good {*WORK*} on the Sabbath!"
John 5:16-18: So because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute Him. In his defense Jesus said to them. "My Father is always at His work to this very day, and **I TOO AM **WORKING**!" For this reason they tried all the more to kill Him; not only was **HE BREAKING THE SABBATH**, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
John 9:16: The Pharisees said of Jesus, "This man is not from God , for He does **NOT KEEP THE SABBATH**!"
About 500 of the 613 Old Testament laws have been eliminated in the New Testament. There are
about 100 OT laws that are repeated in the New Testament. Then there are some OT laws that are obviously still in effect that are not mentioned or banned in the New Testament such as not wearing tattoos, not having sex with animals and selling your daughters as prostitutes.
Since Paul says over 20 times that we are **NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE OT LAWS** there are many who teach that all of Paul's books are of Satan and since Luke and Peter confirm Paul the books of Luke and Acts and Peter are also of Satan and half of the other books in God's Word who disagree with their ridiculous doctrines are also of Satan.
2 Peter 3:15,16: Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our **DEAR BROTHER PAUL** also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which **IGNORANT AND UNSTABLE PEOPLE** distort, as they do other Scriptures, to their own destruction!!
Acts 9:3-6,11,15: As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a Voice say to him: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?" ""Who are you Lord?" Saul {Paul} asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." He replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do!"..... The Lord said to Ananias, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying!".... The Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is **MY CHOSEN INSTRUMENT** to proclaim My name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel!!"
Hark::
You have quoted I John 2:4 out of context and have wrongfully claimed that it shows we should obey OT commands instead of the commands of Jesus.
I John 2:1-5: My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father--**JESUS CHRIST**, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. We know that we have come to know Him [**JESUS**] if we keep His commands. Whoever says, "I know Him," but does not do what He {**JESUS**} commands is a liar and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys His Word, love for God is made complete in them. This is how we know we are in Him!!
John 14:23,24: Jesus says, Anyone who loves Me **WILL OBEY MY TEACHING**. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey My teaching!"
Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, "**ALL AUTHORITY** in heaven and on earth has been given to **ME**. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU**. And surely I am with you always!!"
I Corinthians 9:21: I am under **CHRIST'S LAW**!!
Galatians 6:2: Fulfill the **LAW OF CHRIST**!!
Galatians 3:23-25: "Before faith came, we were held prisoners by the {**OT**} law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, *WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE {**OT**} LAW!!"
*WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE LAW!!
Galatians 2:14-16,20,21; 3:2,5,10-13;23-25: Paul said, When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' know that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because **BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED**!!
Galatians 2:20,21: The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"
Galatians 3:10-13: "All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." Clearly **NO ONE IS JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD BY THE LAW*, because, "The righteous will live by faith." The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us!
Galatians 3:23-25: "Before faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, *WE* ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE LAW!!"
Hebrews 7:18,19: The former regulation is SET ASIDE because it was weak and useless; for the law made nothing perfect, and a **BETTER HOPE** is introduced, by which we draw near to God.!
Hebrews 8:8,9,13: "The time is coming." says the Lord, "when I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah".... By calling this Covenant "NEW", He has made the first one **OBSOLETE**; and what is OBSOLETE and aging will soon disappear."
Hebrews 8:6: But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is Mediator is **SUPERIOR TO THE OLD ONE**, and it is founded on better promises.
Colossians 2:16,17: Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you **EAT** or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a *SHADOW* of the things that were to come, the reality, however, is found in Christ!!!
All of the OT Sabbath laws have been eliminated. Both Jesus and His Father have declared all foods are now clean. All of the OT sacrificial and temple laws have been eliminated. All of the stoning to death laws for breaking the law have been eliminated. All of the laws concerning an eye for an eye and making oaths have been eliminated. Circumcision laws have been eliminated. Loving one another as Jesus loved us has replaced loving one another as you love yourself.
Their about 400 NT laws to be obeyed with *LOVE* in the hope of countless eternal rewards for faithful and loving service has replaced the 613 OT laws.
In the OT God ordered Israel to kill their enemies many times and God helped them do it. However in the NT Jesus commands, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also." Luke 6:27-29
Leviticus 26:7,8: God said to Israel, "You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the SWORD before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the SWORD before you!" Numbers 25:16,17" The Lord said to Moses, "Treat the Midianites as enemies and kill them!" etc etc
HOWEVER IN THE NEW COVENANT, JESUS SAYS, "ALL WHO DRAW THE SWORD WILL DIE BY THE SWORD!"
Jesus said to His 11 Apostles, "If you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. For it is written: "And He was numbered with the transgressors"{Isaiah 53:12} and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in Me. Yes, what is written about Me is reaching its fulfillment." The disciples said, "See Lord, here are 2 {Not 11}swords." "That is enough." Jesus replied.
Matthew 26:30-34: They seized Jesus and arrested Him. With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "For *ALL* who draw the sword will die by the sword...But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"
And so the only reason that Jesus allowed the disciples to have 2 swords was so that the Scripture in Isaiah 53:12 would be fulfilled: "He was numbered among the transgressors."
Jesus said to Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But **NOW** My Kingdom is from another place!"
Former OT commands in Exodus 21:23-25 "If there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise."
This was changed by these NT commands by Jesus:
Matthew 5:38,39: Jesus commands, "You have heard that it was said {In Exodus 21:23-25 above}, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek turn to him the other also!"
Luke 6:27-29: Jesus commands, "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you. do not demand it back!"
Romans 12:18-21: If it is possible, as far as it DEPENDS ON YOU, LIVE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE! Do not take revenge my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written, "It is mine to revenge, I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary "If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head" Do not be overcome by evil but OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD!!
2 Corinthians 10:3,4: "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are *NOT* the weapons of the world."
The only weapons that NT saints may use who follow the New Covenant commands of Jesus is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. A NT saint would not even think of joining the army of any nation and becoming a professional killer or defending himself with a gun. Unfortunately very few Groups such as the Amish and Mennonites still obey these sacred commands of Jesus.
I John 2:3-5: "We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His {Jesus'} commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what He {Jesus} commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him."
The inspired words of the NT were inspired by God between AD 50 and AD 96 and the 4 Gospels were written about AD 65 And so all of the approximately 400 NT commands were not completed and in force until Around AD 96.
When you join the military and become a professional killer you must make a **VOW** that you will obey all the commands of your commanding officer. And so if He commands you to drop an Atomic Bomb that will kill about 100,000 civilians including about 25,000 innocent children you must obey this command!!!
What is the OT command concerning *VOWS* and *OATHS*?? Numbers 30:2: Moses said, "This is what the Lord commands: When a man makes a *VOW* to the Lord or takes an *OATH* to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said!"
What are the NT commands concerning making *VOWS* and **OATHS*??
James 5:12: "ABOVE ALL, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.!!"
Matthew 5:33-37: Jesus says, "You have heard that it was said to your people long ago {Numbers 30:2 above}, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' BUT I tell you, Do not swear at all....Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No, 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one!!"
Anyone who claims that Jesus did not change OT laws is completely blind. All of the OT Sabbath laws have been eliminated. All of the OT sacrificial and temple laws have been eliminated by the eternal sacrifice for sins by Jesus. All of the stoning to death laws for breaking the law have been eliminated. All of the laws concerning killing your enemies, and eye for an eye and making oaths have been eliminated. All Circumcision laws have been eliminated. And Jesus declared that all foods are now *CLEAN*!!
Mark 7:18,19: Jesus says, "Are you so dull?" He asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." In saying this. Jesus declared ALL FOODS "CLEAN!"
SAD*lup continually quotes the middle of the verses in 2 Peter 3:14-16 below **OUT OF CONTEXT**
2 Peter 3:14-16: Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation., just as our **DEAR BROTHER PAUL** also wrote **WITH THE WISDOM GOD GAVE HIM**. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which unsound and unstable people {Like *SAD*lup and Teddy hugger} distort, as they do other Scriptures, to their **OWN DESTRUCTION**!!
*SAD*lup only quotes "His letters that are hard to understand." in 2 Peter 3:14-16 above???
Below are some Paul's inspired words with the **WISDOM GOD GAVE HIM** that unsound and unstable people {Like *SAD*lup} **DISTORT** as they do other Scriptures to **THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION**!!
