Romans 5:6-10: You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless. Christ died for the ungodly. There are all kinds of weird things people do with Scripture. And they all start with a nugget of truth twisted to their own liking. In my opinion the Blood goes back to the Covenant God "cut" with Abraham in Genesis 15. The payment for breaking the Covenant was death (your blood). Since God said the Covenant would be eternal, He paid what the Covenant stipulated to keep it in force even though we were the ones who broke it.
This is the first Blood Covenant. Yes, it has to do with land, but much more: descendants! A people of God. All subsequent covenants tie back to this one. The blood on the doorposts in Egypt had to be passed through to get to the promised land. Semen is passed through the ring of blood created by circumcision creating descendants. Blood was sprinkled at Sinai with the giving of Torah.
We broke the Covenant which demands blood as payment. For us to pay would be the end of us forever. But because of who God is, he paid what was required saving us from eternal destruction.
This is not the format for long detailed explanations, but I would encourage you to research the type of ancient historical middle eastern Covenant which God made with Abraham. God and Abraham didn't just make this up - it was a thing back then.
