**WHY DID THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH CHOOSE DECEMBER 25TH AS THE BIRTHDAY OF JESUS**??
In 275 AD, December 25th was formalized by Emperor Aurelian as the birthday of Sol Invictus, the Invincible Sun, and it is claimed that Aurelian likewise combined the Greek festival of the sun god Helios, called the Helia, with Saturnalia as well to establish this solstice celebration.
The winter solstice celebration that developed throughout much of the inhabited world has been handed down as "Christmas," i.e., December 25th, the birthday of the "sun of God." "Christmas" is thus an extremely ancient celebration, predating the Christian era by many millennia.
The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on December 25th.
December 25th as Christ's birthday makes its way into a "calendar" or chronology created in 354 AD/CE called the Calendar of Filocalus or Philocalian Calendar. In addition to listing the 25th of December as the Natalis Invicti, which means "Birth of the Unconquered (Sun)," the Calendar also names the day as the: "Birth of Christ in Bethlehem Judea." Hence, we can see that people of the fourth century were clearly aware of the association, if not identification, of Christ with the sun.{???}
A careful analysis of Scripture clearly indicates that December 25th is an unlikely date for Christ�s birth. Here are two primary reasons:
{*1*} We know that shepherds were in the fields at night watching their flocks at the time of Jesus� birth: Luke 2:7,8: Mary gave birth to her firstborn a Son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed Him in a manger. And there were shepherds **LIVING OUT IN THE FIELDS** nearby, keeping watch over their flocks **AT NIGHT**!
The rainy season in Israel is from December 1st to April 1st when 95 percent of the total rain for the year takes place. It is highly unlikely that the shepherds would be **LIVING OUT IN THE FIELDS AT NIGHT** with their sheep on December 25th in the rainy season in the middle of winter!!
{*2*} Luke 2:1-4: In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken in the Roman world... And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem {About an 80 mile trip} the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
It is highly unlikely that the Romans would have a census in Israel in the rainy season in the middle of winter; when travel on dirt roads is so difficult and very cold!!
The word Christmas is actually a Roman Catholic evil invention since it combines 2 words: **CHRIST ** and the evil Roman Catholic **MASS*.

THIS IS THE QUESTION. SHOULD WE LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT WE IN A LIFELONG PROCESS LEARN TO OBEY GOD AND WILL MATURE BUT NEVER WILL DO EVERYTHING PERFECTLY?
