How do you determine which passages of Scripture are meant to be interpreted as principles and which are to be interpreted as direct commands? Many of us recognize that many of Paul's writings were given within a cultural context as principles, not direct commands for all believers to follow at all times.

Also, I'm sure we all recognize that it is the Holy Spirit who guides us in all truth, but some of us believe He is guiding us one way in making this determination, and others believe He is guiding us another way. My point is, please don't just answer the question, "I follow the Holy Spirit" or something along those lines.

I'm asking what criteria or rationale or thinking are you using in deciding which passages are principles and which are direct commands to be obeyed literally. Thanks!

Do you or do you not kiss your brothers and sisters in Christ when you meet them? It's not really a difficult question.

Still waiting for your answer...

Romans 16:16 Greet one another with a holy kiss.

1 Corinthians 16:20 Greet one another with a holy kiss.

2 Corinthians 13:12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.

1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

These are God's commands. Are you obeying them?

If not, why aren't you?

Romans 12:3, 1 Samuel 15:23, Luke 10:16

"But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned." Titus 3:9-11

Are those passages commands by God or not? If not, what criteria are you using to decide they are not?

Hello

One of the ways t determone whether the Word is speaking about a command of GOD Almighty, or it being a principle is by taking the Word according to its CONTEXT.

Cotext is the first to be used t understanding the Word of GOD Almighty.

Next we can look at is the tense of the word, or passage of Scripture.

Is the Scripture speaking of something happening in the past, the present or the future.

Next, could we be reading somethin that is Prophetic, this also needs to be unerstood according to cntext, and tense.

Are we reading Parables, allagories, Hebrew Idioms, etc. These are understood differently then regular Scriputre, as these ar best understand as a Jew, or Greek would ynderstand them.

There are types and shadows of Messiah such as the temple, and everything within the temple points to Messiah.

These means to translate, and interpret alomg with others are not being taught by the self called pastors, because they do not want the people to be independent of them.

Use biblehub, and blue letter bible to help in your understanding the Word of GOD Almghty.

Shalom
