1 ~ If you do Id like to know so I may have them for my very own.
2 ~ John 5:38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
I hear you George...and for the record...its obvious that "I" am Standing Firm on what the Holy Spirit of GOD Almighty has taught me...not as man has taught or translated...Its the AKJV because its the best translation I've come across so far in English...the only thing mising are the Apocrypha and other Older Scriptures not concidered Conical or relavent...I also use a Cambridge Bible along with a Hebrew ~ Jewish copy of the Torah...:yay:..
I do like your nic name of the NIV...Not Intelligent Verson...most impressive...I call it "Nasty" because it is the worst I've found and "Intentional" because it is so Obvious of the changes and removeals plus the "Negating" of what the WORD of God is Conveying...ya know...the Message of Christ...Salvation...and the Kingdom of Heaven...
Yes I should be a bit careful about my terminology. While I don't subscribe to the doctrine of inerrancy, I do believe the Word is "perfect", in that it will achieve exactly what God wants it to achieve (Isa 55:10-11), regardless of the various permutations we put it through.
I'm not so sure I'd know how any absolutes could be "watered down" either, short of removing them altogether. However a translator can still exert a tremendous influence on how a message is understood, even while still correctly translating such absolutes.
I'm sorry but your original post seemed to elevate the A~KJV to the point where it was the standard by which all other translations were to be judged, if not explicitly then implicitly at least.
It's good to see that you recommend the accuracy of the A~KJV whilst recognising that it is still not fully inerrant, yet from the original post this was not apparent, and I felt concerned that it might cause confusion among Christians that their dear NASB, NIV, etc, upon which their faith has been established, may in fact be corrupt (and their faith consequently questionable), while at the same time placing an inordinate emphasis upon human translation over personal devotion. That's how it came across to me at least.
