It's a gift. But why don't some people get it no matter how many thousand times they asked for it??? Is it biblically right to teach someone how to speak in tongues? Thanks.

No truth outside of scripture? What about before there was scripture? I think that's what LTM is trying to get you to think about. Who directed the apostles to write letters? Who decided those letters should be in the bible and why? They were not part of the "scriptures" that Jesus had, but we label them as truth.

As nearly always happens; asking people what they believe ends up in dogmatics often only loosely connected to the question. A favourite trick of the devil, actually, to make brothers and sisters squabble amongst themselves over silly little things...

Assuming you could 'learn' tongues, see if those offering to 'teach' use this gift according to scipture or not (don't ask them if they do, know what the Bible says and observe them for yourself) - after all it's the teacher's qualifications you're trusting!

If we won't to know truth we only need to refer to scripture.

For those that do not accept the scripture as THE TRUTH they will always put self first.

The issue is not about tongues, Satan loves to prevert this simple truth.

The issue is have you received The Holy Ghost since you believed.

What has been shared primarily in this post is not bible put simply people's experiences according to opinion's

Jesus is never complex to the hungry heart.

Very well, my personal opinion is that somebody cannot 'teach' you to speak in tongues - that happens as the Spirit enables you and always has a purpose. In acts we see the tongues were the proclamation of Christ to people of all nations gathered there. Again, in my opinion, too much importance is placed on this particular gift which is why Paul writes that it is the least and he'd rather we prophesy.

The challenge I set is to watch people who speak in tongues, especially those who offer to 'teach' this, to see whether they follow what Paul wrote: is the whole church speaking in tongues instead of just a couple? Is an interpretation given by someone else? And of course, you can't just ask those people if they're speaking in tongues biblically because they're bound to say yes, you have to know for yourself what is written in scripture on this subject. The church I mentioned previously was recording a worship album and thought it'd be good to have bits at the end of some tracks where everybody was speaking or singing in tongues - I wonder who they were really glorifying? I may have only been a teen at the time, but I knew that wasn't of God.

I hope I've made myself clearer on this.

The issue is the Gift of the Holy Ghost. To all that receive the gift of the holy ghost will speak in tongues.

Those that receive the Gift Holy Ghost will speak in tongues.

Jesus made it the first priority of the church.

you mentioned one of the reasons the gift of tongues is manifested as the spirit wills, that is not the same as speaking in tongues as in Acts 2:4

The bible was written in the new testament as those that all spoke in tongues.

Diligent Study will show many of the benefits of speaking in tongues

The gift of tongues and interpretation are equivalent to prophecy.

The issue was then and still today have you received The Holy Ghost since you believed
