Can someone please tell me where the scripture is pertaining to the age of accountability? You know.....when we become accountable for our sins.

A friend asked me where it is......I checked my references and looked for it but, can't find it. I know it's there...I have read it:)

Daniel,

Don't make me hijack this thread to teach you some Calvinism. LOL. I just believe a little differently than you. I won't debate it here though. We will catch each other on another thread one day and debate. Walter and I tend to do it about once a week. LOL.

Blessings,

Leon

Well, I'm getting closer.

With the help of a friend.....three scriptures from the old testament refer to it.

Isiah 7:39

Deut 1:39

Numbers 14:29

These are good because they address the fact that children do not yet know right from wrong and even refer to an age group.

But, the scriture that I am looking for is even more specific and clear for the unbeliever to understand.

Don't give up yet ......I'm getting close:)

King David gives us an important proof in his life and actions. Because of an adulterous relationship with Bathsheba, she had given birth to a son. God, in judgment on David, told David that his son would die. David fasted and pleaded with God for the life of the son. David's servants were so worried about him, that they feared to tell him when the child died. Yet, when David discovered the fact, he washed, changed his clothes, and sat down to eat. When the servants expressed their surprise, he responded, "While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me" (2 Samuel 12:22-23). David knew God and knew he would be with Him. But he also knew that he would see his son there. This is an encouragement to every parent who has lost a child.

That is a good story.....might be a bit wordy for my unbelieving friend. However, Gods word has a way of accomplishing what it set to do:)

He was asking about the age of accountability because I had mentioned it to him before.

He heard some supposed Christian women talking about a child that had died....on the radio......and she believd that the childs soul was in hell.

My friend was very upset and wanted to know where the scriptures were pertaining to the age of accountability that I had referred to.

David was a believer...the mother of this child was not. So I think this woman was saying that the souls of children of unbelievers go to hell.

So i wanted the scriptures that show that children are not accountable for their sins.....so therefore their souls do not go to hell...weather their parents are believers or not!!

Many people use the scriptures where Jesus instructs the Apostles to suffer the little children, for of such is the kingdom of heaven. That combined with the scripture about the Angels of the children being before the face of the Father continuously. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but if so, let me know and I will give you the locations and quotes. That is about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Blessings,

Leon
