I feel a little *crazy* asking this, but it's something that I've been chewing on for awhile and still haven't reached a definite conclusion about.
It all started with the Twilight craze. I live about 1/2way between Seattle and Forks (where Twilight was filmed), so it's this totally crazy thing out here. Anyway, so A LOT of people around here are convinced that vampires are real. At first, I thought that the idea had no merit to it, but, the more I thought about it, I started to wonder if there could be vampires... more specifically, if demons could take the form of creatures such a vampires.
Biblically, do you think that there is any (strong) evidence that this could be the case?
I would love to hear everyone's thoughts because it's a question that comes up a lot where I live, and I feel like I don't have as good of a grasp as I would like on the issue. When people start to talk about vampires being real and glorifying them, I'd like to be able to respond more definitively.
WHEN i WAS A TENAGER i WAS INLOVLED IN THE VAMPIRE/ occult thing and have made no false accusations here. I will take legal action if you do not stop pixy.this is no joke.Cdff has been informed.
To answer the original question. I'm not sure if demons can take the form of vampires or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. Demons take many forms, and as Christians, we need to be aware of the spiritual battles going on around us and be able to recognize evil when we see it.
Now, I'm not trying to start any arguments, or cause anyone to attack me personally. I'm just stating my opinion on the subject of controversial fiction ...
I've read the Twilight books, and seen all the movies...and I intend to see the rest of the movies when they come out. I enjoyed the stories as simple works of fiction. I don't believe in vampires like those in the stories. I don't believe in werewolves. But fantasy characters like that sure do make for enjoyable reading. My only hesitation is that these characters were portrayed in a positive light, whereas most fiction would make the vampires and werewolves the enemy.
Another similarly controversial series is the Harry Potter series. I researched this series (for a college project, actually), and initially read it intending to prove that it is a series that Christians should avoid. After reading the books that were out at the time (through book 4, I think), I was surprised to find that I did not at all feel that it was sinful to read them. I wasn't sure, however, how the story would end. I remained cautious about reading them until ALL of the books had been published and I could see the end of the story. I wasn't thrilled with how dark the last couple books were, but overall I found the end to be satisfactory.
I don't dabble in the occult, and I don't feel that it is sinful for me to read the books or watch the movies. HOWEVER, if someone else feels that it is sinful, or if it would cause them to stray from God, then they should absolutely avoid this type of fiction. I firmly respect any decision like that, and will never try to convince anyone that they should be reading such books.
I'm currently reading through the Harry Potter series for the 2nd time. I won't finish it before I go to visit a friend for a week in July, but I will NOT be taking those books with me. My friend knows that I read the Harry Potter books, and I know that she feels that it is wrong to read those books. I will not flaunt my "freedom" (for lack of a better word) by taking a Harry Potter book into her home.

Absolutely!! As with any area where we have freedom in Christ, no one should ever go against a personal conviction (given to them by God; not violating Scripture).
