Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, concept or thing, or a belief that is not based on proof.

How can we have faith if we repeatedly disobey the word of god?

I have heard people talking, about "once in grace always in grace" or so they put it and I really don't understand where this comes from!

Doesn't the Parable of the Prodigal Son give the perfect example of one who has lost faith in the lord?

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

Isn't the trail of our faith, the way we lead our life born again?

I believe a battle is raging everyday with the enemy. The choices we make build or faith.. And no matter how much faith we think we have everyone could stand for allot more building.

8. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9. not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9

According to these verses, nothing we can do earns our salvation. If we had to keep the law perfectly in

order to keep our Salvation, than our Salvation is based upon us and not on God.

12. For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13.For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14.For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15. and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

16. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5:12-17

Here we see, that once we become saved, we no longer live in the old nature, but become a completely different person. Those who truly accept Christ as Savior will exhibit a difference in their lives. You wont see the difference all at once, but gradually, as God works upon the persons heart. If someone claims to accept Christ as Savior and yet exhibits no change, chances are they never were saved, because they did not repent.

And if you believe that you can lose your Salvation and obtain it again, then consider the passage in Hebrews 6:

4. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5. and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6. if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

It clearly states that we cannot become Saved more than once, for to do so would be to tell God that He is not strong enough to Save us in the first place.

Hi brother,

you said:

We SHOULD NOT be backsliders! Because pinishment for sin is DEATH. God will judge us.

That's why He will decide if we should be written in the Book of Life or our sins erased our names from the Book of Life.

I'm assuming your referring to my comments, if you mean by back-sliding that we lose our Salvation and come back to Christ, no. Simply, because the Bible does say that we can never be resaved. If you mean, that I don't believe Christians will not sin, no. Even Paul mentions how he has to wrestle with his old flesh. While we are on this Earth, we are going to sin. However if we do not grow in Christ, I do not believe we have ever put our Faith in Christ to be our Lord and Savior. That's all I mean.

your logic is full of holes!

explain the Prodigal Son? He was already at the fathers house, and left it.. but the father accepted him back.

MATTHEW

10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my names sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved

MATTHEW

18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

18:12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into

the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

18:13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
