The Bible says Rebellion is as the Spirit of witchraft. Can someone please tell me where in scripture that is, and what it means? I humbly ask that et or jude don't reply to my thread.

Misslady! So good to see you. I think it's 1 Samuel 15:23.

As to what it means, I have a vague idea and have been told things about it, but I really don't know enough about it to tell you, and I wouldn't want to mislead you in any way.

It is 1Sam. 15:23

Idolatry and witchcraft are especially serious sins.

Hola MissLady!! :)

Please forgive me if I stray off..I'm sleepy.

In the context of 1 Sam 15:23, Samuel gave Saul instructions from God. Saul didn't do everything exactly as God had said because he didn't want to make the people upset. When Saul and Sam were talking about it, Sam told him that rebellion is like witchcraft and his stubbornness was like idolatry (he had saved some livestock for sacrifices even though God said to destroy everything).

What I take from it is, if God tells us to do, or not do, something we need to do exactly as He says..anything less is like I'm worshipping another god..aka witchcraft, because if we aren't looking at/whorshipping Him, then we turn to the enemy. It's all or nothing. No gray area. One or the other.

I hope I've made some sense. Haha! Love ya! :)

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft... being that rebellion is a sin and is to mean a person wanting to have their own way,

( I call it free will which is disobedience) by resisting authority and wanting to have total control and power over things or self in defience to everything. Whic is only working magic on ones self...

The rebellion is the same practice of witchcraft, which is to gain control, power and authority over a person, in an effort to try and make things happen the way a person would like for it to happen. God says witchcraft is a sin dealing in magic or socrsery.

Therefore, when a person is rebellious they are working witchcraft on themself, rebelling against everything that is right, trying to make things happen their way regardless of the consequences, because they seek power and they become their own authority.

The verse goes on to say, stubborness (hardheadedness refusing to obey or listen) is as iiniquity (wickedness or unrighteousness) and idolatry(worshipping some thing or self), self-centerness, selfish, etc.. which are also sins.

Misslady, you've already some great answers. Simply put; it seems a person has 3 choices : 1) God's way 2) Our (flesh) way 3) Satan's way

Since Satan basically exploits the desires of the flesh for his own purposes that really leaves a person with only 2 choices ; God or Satan. This is because we are mere human beings in a world ruled by spirits so even when we think we are following our "Own" way we play right into the hands of the enemy. This is why the sin of rebellion is like witchcraft..... cause we really only have 2 choices.

I recently wrote a post on forgiveness. Go back and read it in this section. The person that is unable to forgive said some will not forgive. A person did chop my statement up to nulify it. That person is practicing witchcraft. We are commanded to forgive, the people that do not are involved in witchcraft.
