It would depend on your definition of 'pastor'

I tried to word it vaguely so as to leave it up to perception.

I used the word "ordained" to try to denote a position that is recognized by a church.

(Basically, I'm just trying to not talk about...ya know).

I say this with love sisters, you all know what the scriptures say, I think thats the will of God on earth, but no worries when we get to heaved it all changes. I love a woman that spreads the Gospel but when it comes to the head, its a mans burden.

Beware of new Bibles that promote women in priesthood, they will all take you to Mary worship.

I guess it all depends on how you interpret 1 Timothy 2:12 (NASB)

12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

I grew up in a church in which they allow women to be ordained pastors, but I have since changed my mind.

Now, as others have implied, what do you mean by pastor? The church I currently go to, women dont even teach the adult Sunday School classes. But we have a large womens ministry that is headed up by a few ladies that have what I would consider the gift of being a pastor.

I agree. There's definitely many places that women excel, but I don't think women should teach men.

Why do you think so many churches allow it?

No...unless there is no capable man around to lead, it must be a man that is pastor of a church. Women should support men of potential to lead. I believe it is so because in the bible women like children were not even counted like in Jesus' feeding. The genealogy of Jesus Christ is not traced on Mary's line but on Joseph's ... might be that Mary was chosen because she was his betrothed. So for important positions, it should be for a man, like head of the family, pastor of a church, president of a country, etc.

Many churches allow lots of things that aren't Biblical.

If by ordained pastor you mean the one who oversees the local church, preaches on Sunday morning, has a congregation who weekly is taught by,has deacons, etc. under him...... then I by all means think it's Biblical that a man fill that position. God made woman to help the man---not to take over his Leadership role in the church, at home, etc.

This is just my opinion--- so pleeeez no one attack!

I know there are homes where the man isn't present and the woman may have to take on leader role.

Yes, I believe God can bless women with many gifts, including teaching, but I think it could interrupt the "chain of command" so to speak. I'll use Joyce Meyers as an example. I thouroughly enjoy her books, but I don't necessarily think men would find her as useful. To me, she has a woman's ministry.

That being said, I don't condemn any woman that feels she has any calling from God because I feel that is an issue between her and God...not me. I think we women have it easier on that level. =)
