Are YOU AFRAID to DISAGREE with SCRIPTURE?

I feel if a person is afraid to disagree with scripture they do themselves a grave disservice. Often times what we are actually disagreeing with is OUR INTERPRETATION of the scripture. If we are afraid to disagree, it puts us in danger of believing something the scripture does not say. This is the offramp that leads to the highway of heresy.

Do any here agree?

George I think you have misunderstood the post. But to answer you're question : No not necessarily ; If the individual believes it to to be sin, then it is sin for him; reguardless of what the scriptures say.

Is it not appropriate, or far better to agree with scripture, in lieu of some kind of self justification, entitled interpretation.

Where does the arrogance come from to think scripture is not true as it is written, and thus revealed to man by the spirit of God as we are faithful to be a doer of the word and not a hearer only.

Romans ch 3:9 What shall we conclude then? Are we any better[b]? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. 10As it is written:

"There is no one righteous, not even one;

11there is no one who understands,

no one who seeks God.

12All have turned away,

they have together become worthless;

there is no one who does good,

not even one."[c]

13"Their throats are open graves;

their tongues practice deceit."[d]

"The poison of vipers is on their lips."[e]

14"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."[f]

15"Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16ruin and misery mark their ways,

17and the way of peace they do not know."[g]

18"There is no fear of God before their eyes."[h]

19Now we know that whatever

This scripture has been quoted time and time again as referring to mankind as a whole, form the time of Adam until the current Age.

But if we do as we are taught by the word of God you will find this is a quote from the old testament, at least twice, speaking of a particular group of people, and at a given time in history.

When you look at what is said in entirety:

Such as none seek, but yet we see man seeking God continually in the old testament so where is the confusion?

We will see where man is considered Rightous before God by his faith.

You find plenty of scripture that would seemingly contradict, what those say the meaning of this scripture passage is, professing it to be doctrine, when all it is, is man perverting the word to justify his false doctrine.

@PJ

Your last sentence is exactly what I have expressed in the original post. It is typically people who are afraid to disagree with scripture (their interpretation) who are trapped in cults and heresy.

Do you not think that it would be better said, 'that typical people do not disagree with what is being said to them, by a man's private interpretation of the Scriptures?'

It is man whom I disagree with, not His Word. "knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:..." llPeter1:20-21...2:1-3. Over a billion dollars a year in the western hemisphere with "religious" merchandising. Just some 'food' for thought. God Bless.

Here we go with the hate-all-Protestants thing again...the good old "private interpretation" biz. And what of religious merchandise? Surely some part of that is CDs and DVDs, right? Yes, I know that Christians making music and selling it to other Christians is of the devil, but somehow, I think I'm getting closer to God through it. What shall I do? I'm contributing to the downfall of Truth by buying music that blesses me! Someone help.

@ twosparrows:

I did not misunderstand the topic you posted.

Though there are some Scriptures i do not agree with,yet because the Holy Spirit dwells within me,I come into agreement with those Scriptures..

This agreement does not come without my wrestling with GOD,over His Word and His Ways..
