The Black Church's Commitment to Obama

By Lloyd Marcus

Dear Black Church,

What I am about to say will probably anger you. As a black Christian, I have struggled with whether or not to address this sensitive topic. I only ask that you give my statements prayerful consideration.

Ninety-six percent of black voters, many of whom are Christians, cast their votes for Barack Obama. I question: Did your desire to see a black man in the White House trump your commitment to Christ and Christian values and principles? While I believe many white Christians also made a racist decision by voting for Obama solely because he is black, I am taking this occasion to address my fellow black Christians.

Now wait a minute. I know the hair is rising on the back of your neck. Don't go crazy on me. Please hear me out.

My family and most of my black friends are Christians striving to live lives which honor Christ. And yet, there is a huge disconnect between their Christianity and their irrational, blind, and near-idol-worship of Obama.

Will the truth about Obama make a difference? For some, I think not. For those of you who value your commitment to Christ more than your loyalty to skin color, here are a few facts.

Obama supports abortion. He also supports the vile murderous practice of partial birth abortion. So as not to offend his pro-choice supporters while an Illinois state senator, Obama voted three times against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which would protect babies who survive abortions. According to Illinois state law at that time, live aborted babies were issued birth and death certificates and left out to die in soiled utility rooms. Obama's compassionate compromise was to suggest hospitals create a "Comfort Room" for aborted babies to die in.

Over 50% of black pregnancies end in abortion (Blackgenocide.org). The liberal mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, BET, etc.) and the Democrats relentlessly promote the myth that "white conservative Republicans" are burning the midnight oil thinking of ways to suppress black America. Isn't it ironic that not a white Republican's, but our black Democrat president's abortion policy contributes greatly to black genocide?

Let's talk about gay marriage. Yep, Obama is sympathetic to it. Obama opposed the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman. Obama said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples. He also supports individual states deciding if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

I would also like to tackle the whole "entitlement" thing -- folks believing they have a right to reap the benefits of someone else's labor. Obama is diligently fulfilling his promise to Joe the Plumber to "spread the wealth around." The Bible says that if a man does not work, he should not eat (II Thessalonians 3:6-12).

Yes, the Bible does highly regard giving/charity. But it does not support government confiscating wealth for redistribution in the name of "social justice." That is not what Jesus would do. As a matter of fact, Jesus said, "The poor you will have with you always." Why? Because it is impossible to regulate outcomes in life. Obama skillfully plays the class envy card, getting those who have less to hate those who have more. Then they will gleefully support him brutally taxing the rich SOBs. Obama is exploiting the human tendency to sinfully covet the possessions of others.

Obama also shamelessly plays the race card to get his way -- not directly out of his mouth, but through his minions. The liberal mainstream media and the Democrats are promoting the lie that the millions of whites who voted for Obama and have since become tea-partiers because they reject his big government agenda are suddenly racist. This is an evil and divisive control tactic.

And here is a major kick in the face to Christians. During his presidential campaign, Obama told the world America is not a Christian nation. Now, as president, Obama canceled the 21st annual "National Day of Prayer" ceremony at the White House, which was started by President Truman in 1952. Obama stated his reason as "not wanting to offend anyone."

Now here's the kicker. A National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House, September 25, 2009. As many as 50,000 Muslims attended.

So apparently, Team Obama has no problem offending Christians, but he is extremely sensitive to and even honors Muslims.

My fellow black Christians, these are only a few easy-to-research examples of Obama/Democrat agenda policies which do not line up with Christianity. For those of you who cannot handle the truth, I will keep you in my prayers. It is not my place to judge you. I am simply the messenger. But then, we all know what traditionally happens to messengers. God bless.

i think having obama in office is revealing people's agendas. racists and idol worshippers are uncovered, not to mention the sin of pride which is kicked into high gear.

it is an opportunity for persons to catch an unguarded view of "church's" and their politics and or doctrine. persons whose sole purpose in ministry is to heap in riches... persons who's sole purpose it is to lead us astray... etc etc. it is a perfect opportunity to see who is confused or who is simply lost. what can i say, think of it as a blessing, at least now some of the snakes are higher than the grass that hides them.

hmm, i wonder if God is in the process of separating the sheep from the goat?

I voted for Obama. Let's get that straight. I did not vote for him because of his color, I voted because of his platform. I agree that there are some who routinely cast their vote based on the color of the skin on both sides of the color line, but sometimes, the obvious is not all that obvious. If you did not know me, a person would say that I voted because he was black. I really did listen to what he said. I don't believe you can legislate morality so I just stuck with what he wanted to do with the country we live in. We have to understand that Moses allowing divorce did not mean that he forsook God's laws. He did what he had to do as a civil lawgiver for the good of the lawful and the lawless.

Sir james, I agree with some of your concerns. However, That other guy was just as bad or worse in my view. So, I choose the better one.remember I am from ohio. That swayed my votes for a time. Our republician state leadership stole money from the workman comps fund to get the GOP elected in 2006.I wanted the corrupt lawmakers out.Stealing to support my christian vales by politictians,That is one for the books.Yes, they did give McCain

money, Bush and Arnie in California. It ticked me off. I registered republician this month for the first time in several years. Now you know I voted for Obama, because I was ticked off at the other guys. Our state supreme court judge got drunk and pulled over by the cops, she then took off and had the state police run her down.

Do you all think I want a drunk conservative judge making decsions? We vote for them in our state.I never vote for here.

What am I to do??? pray and vote.Dennis

I am supposing SirJames, that since you took the time to type all that, that you agree with the author.

I agree with PhilJo on this one. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Racism/slavery/segregation, different denominations all lead by Satan are the leading factors for there being a 'Black Church'.

It doesn't matter what color he is, the fact is, he is our President right now. We are commissioned by the Word to pray for our leaders and those that rule over us (I Tim 2:1-2). We know that the things that the Bible speaks of in these last days have to happen.

We should be all the more concerned because of the times we are in about reaching the lost rather than crying over the policies of a man already in office.

You have to know that the effectual, fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much. Discern the times that we are in and pray.

I agree with Dennis talking of "the other guy". I am not a citicen of the USA, but let me give you an outsider's perspective:

In Europe most people were happy when Obama was voted. Not because of his skin color, not because of his support for abortions or anything like that, but because he seemed to be the man to have the statesbecome "civilised" again in a way.

You've heard right. Here, many people considered the USA a greater danger to world peace than all the Irans, North Koreas and Lybias together. You guys have the bomb, you have the military force, and the Bush administration showed it would use the military whereever they thought it useful, without listening to their allies or anybody else.

Some other guy from the GOP (why you call it that, isn't the Democrat party older?) didn't seem to put an end to this threat to us foreigners. Especially as McCain has some age. If he had died in office, this woman from Alaska (just forgot her name) would have been president, and I do well imagine she would have started a war on a country she didn't like - once someone would have told her where it was.

Obama to the contrary opposed the Iraq war from the beginning, which seemed to be very promising when thinking about world peace and such. Opposing that war in that time needed some genuine uprightness, putting one's convictions above the career. That was very appealing to Europeans, it gave Obama the image of being one of the last righteous ones. He considered this war wrong as we do (remeber the mass demonstrations in 2003 in Europe?) and he had the guts to say it.

Okay, I'll shut up now, just to give you an insight to what the USA were seen as back then and now. Back then you were no much different from all those axis of evil states to many of us. Now we can feel like being friends again, like we are not considered your colonies. Keep that in mind.

I think the post points out political issues but fails to be truthful to its title which is: the black churchs commitment to Obama.

I think with this title, one should comment the commitments of the black church.Instead I read only about doubts regarding Obamas politics.

So where are the facts and figures to sustain a statement that the black church (whatever that might be) is committed to Obama instead of to God?

These kind of allegations cannot simply be thrown on the web without substantial evidence of facts, events and numbers.

Personally I believe that this post is written by a republican disguised as a "black church christian".

SOS - CNN cites in an article that 96% of African Americans voted for Obama. They also noted that 67% of Latinos and 63% of Asians voted for Obama.

"Personally I believe that this post is written by a republican disguised as a "black church christian"."

So a republican can't be part of the "black Christian church"? Maybe you should look up who Lloyd Marcus is.
